good idea ruined by extra wifi signal- showstopper

I had a Roku 1 and lost it. Was excited to get a Roku 3. All was well until I learned that the Roku 3 broadcasts an extra wifi signal. This signal is used by the remote control and necessary for operation of the device. It cannot be disabled.
The effect of this extra signal is a series of frustrating steps to reset other wifi devices in the home since the extra signal conflicts with my DropCam, my Wireless Printer, causes both PCs to have conflicting wifi connections. My iPad experiences interruptions in wifi service, too.
I called Roku for help... short answer is you have to deal with it, there's no way to turn it off. period.
Value of product is diminished to Zero as a result. Ease of product is diminished to Zero as a result. Ease of Set up is diminished to Zero as a result... what good is set up if it interferes with everything else in the house?

I watch very little cable TV and will eventually get rid of it altogether some day. Love the choices Roku gives me.

The Roku 3 has pretty much everything you need in one device. My wife and I use it for Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon instant, HBO Go and Showtime Anytime primarily, but also for access to my Plex Home Theater server. The only thing you really can't get is Apple content, but they don't allow that on anything other than AppleTV anyway which is much more limited than Roku. It's incredibly easy to setup and get started. It's simple to use and works with our Logitech universal remote. Our only complaint is that the interface can sometimes be a little sluggish, but it's not clear if it's the device, the "channel" or internet congestion that's the culprit there.

Even tho' I have purchased several subscriptions to different programs, Hulu, Amazon, Netflix etc. it still seems that they want to charge fees to watch movies.

Roku 3 has transformed our entertainment venue. My wife and I regularly enjoy fast, trouble-free streaming of HD premium video and movies delivered by the Roku 3. The 3 model is faster, has better features, and a more appealing user interface than its predecessor models. It is worth its higher price. While the sound jacks built into the remote control of the Roku 3 are a nice feature, I rarely use it. What it lacks, that I would like to have, is volume control over playback.

I purchased the product about a year ago, since then I haven't had to worry about a cable bill at all. The Roku has channels for your husband, grandma, mom and kids!!! The learning channels are AMAZING and FREE!! Bible stories and songs, I wouldn't trade it at all!!

Could not play my digital videos across my network. Could not "cast" to television from my computer. I took it back and got a Chromecast.

I LOVE my ROKU-3 BUT it has a way of losing it's connection to my router (Note: I also have an Apple-TV which can stay connected even when my ROKU fails). I was using wifi ... so I bought a pair of Powerline Adapters and that has improved the connection, but I can still lose the connection. And that is quite frustrating! I have to shut everything off and unplug my Powerline Connectors and wait a couple of minutes before reconnecting and restarting everything.
