New & Improved but not Perfect

I purchased 2 of these Roku 3 streamers. I already had a Roku 2 but wanted a unit for my bedroom TV and the wireless headphone jack was the main reason to buy the first one. After trying the Roku 3, I bought another and moved my original Roku box to a second TV. The Roku 3 works well and is very easy to set up. The wireless headphone works great but does draw down the remote batteries a lot faster than without, which I can live with for the convenience. Sound is in stereo and good quality. My only real criticism of the Roku 3 is that the software doesn't seem to be as robust as in the Roku 2. Both of my Roku 3's frequently crash (about once a week) and locks up. I have to unplug them to restart. One is on wireless and one is connected directly via a network cable, and the wireless one tends to have more problems. Occasionally I get audio out of sync or no audio but I don't know if that is Roku or the streaming service. The other thing is the huge number of streaming channels for Roku. Most are junk and not worth the effort to use, and a large percentage seems to be churches looking for a cheap way to present their material. Some others like Smithsonian Channel are a bit stale and don't have a lot of new material, but since I watch mainly Amazon and Netflix, it's not a big deal.

Great interface, but freezes up sometimes

We really love our roku - we've even cut the chord, and watch ALL our TV through Roku. The interface is lovely, and easy to use. My only complaint is that occasionally you get stuck on a channel or in a show. Let's say you start a show on Hulu, and decide 1/2 way through you want to start something else . . . well . . . you've got to unplug the roku and reboot it because your remote won't work. It's rare, but annoying. I would love to see more sports options (no football), and a working HGTV channel.

Compatible, friendly and versitile

This is the 2nd Roku I bought. The remote, as well as the user interface, is adult/kid-friendly. Cheap enough addition to add to any TV in the home. Network streaming is superb, along with the Roku app for mobile devices. I recommend these devices for anyone who is technologically challenged as well as those looking to maximize their home media setup.

We've have our Roku 3 for a few months now and LOVE it! It was so easy to set up and super easy to use on a day to day basis.

Love the Roku 3!

I have had the Roku 3 for about a year now. Very few things that I don't like about it. The major issue is the "HDCP Unauthorized content error." If it is left plugged in for a while, the error will appear. I have to leave it unplugged and plug it back in when I'm ready to use it to keep from seeing the error. It also shows when plugged into a port besides the HDMI 1 port. Don't know why that is. It would be nice to have this fixed in the near future. Other than that, I really like the Roku and I look forward to what the developers will have in store in the near future...I have heard Roku TV!

Wife and I spent four months in Costa Rica. The Roku 3 was the primary entertainment for the entire period of time. Would have been terrible without it.

Seems to work fine every time I set it up for my wife who, due to a stroke, is electronically challenged. However, it does not seem to be a replacement for cable or satellite TV.

2nd Roku and better than ever

I bought one of the original Roku players years ago and loved it! When I moved I left it with my old roommate. After a few disappointing months of over priced cable and accessing Netflix through a Playstation 3 (a big pain in the you know what!) I decided to get rid of that and go back to Roku. This time I bought the premium model. There are not enough words to express how much I love my Roku. It is so easy to use. It was super easy to set up and I have so many options and don't have to deal with stupid cable companies anymore. Other devices just don't measure up when it come to the speed and ease of use of the Roku. I only wish that they had more sports streaming channels. I long for the day when there will be an HBO and Showtime subscription channel. Then I will truly think I have died and gone to heaven. Don't think about it anymore just get a Roku player. Whichever model you choose you won't be disappointed!
