Generally best in class

While the Roku 3 is currently "best in class," the competition is rapidly closing in with additional features, an expanding list of viewing choices, and significantly lower cost. The major complaint I have about the R3 is the intentional, and wholly mercenary, limitation of formats the vaunted USB player can, well, play. Hundreds of thousands of video and audio files recorded in common formats are not compatible with the R3. That is, politely put, exasperating. Roku intends, I'm sure, to increase the number and type of format compatibility, but with the NEXT iteration of the device, thereby hoping to entice users with otherwise perfectly good units to "buy up." It's software, not hardware, and seems to me to be retro-fittable, if you will, to current boxes. I understand the strategy, even approve of it, sort of, IF the planned obsolescence is an inherent promise to deliver dramatically improved successor software and/or devices, not merely incrementally so. Absent that, I am of a mind to forego a new Roku, when it does inevitably appear, and much more seriously consider a different maker's device.

Met my Expectations

Bought this to have a better interface to Netflix and yes it does!
In theory my Blu-Ray player also runs Netflix, but the interface sucks to be point of not wanting to use it. This is smooth and buttery. Only downside is the universal search returns movies that are mostly pay variety. However, it's worth it just for Netflix/Pandora.

I love mine so much I bought two more - one for each TV in the house. The channel selection is superb, and it's super easy to setup and operate!!

The Roku 3 has so many great features. I have over 50 channels and can watch downloaded movies from a stick using Roku media. I highly recommend the Roku 3. Ruku offers music channels such as Pandora, which is free so you always are offered great entertainment.

I have enjoyed the product thus far! The problem with this product that I have had is that I have to unplug it everytime we go to use it. This is frustrating but we make it work!

Amazing Cost Savings!

I own a small B&B in Northern California and I have Roku players in each cottage. It is by far the best solution - to have strong a WiFi repeater centrally located, and all the units with flatscreen HDMI TVs. The alternative was to have a cable account for each unit costing hundreds of dollars per month. Since installing my first Roku unit, the channels have grown exponentially, and now my guests don't really have to miss their news or sports shows, and the huge variety of entertainment options has made my DVD library obsolete. I rarely have reception problems, and the remotes have gotten easier to use with greater functionality. I love Roku!

This was my third attempt at a streaming device. I wish I had bought it first. Fast menu changes, never freezes, instant on, motion sensitive for games and a handy strap to keep it nearby. Buy this one first!
