Dump Cable/Get ROKU !

We decided to drop cable when it got too expensive and bought three ROKU-3 boxes for the house. Although I was skeptical in the beginning, it completely changed the way we watch TV. With the smorgasbord of channels available, especially Hulu+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime, the choices are endless. On top of that, the ROKU supports the PLEX Media Server which allows you to stream movies, shows, and pretty much anything else you can find on the internet, straight to your TV through the ROKU. We also added a digital antenna for a few dollars and now pull in the regular channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) in HD. Sure, you may have to wait a day after one of your favorite TV episodes airs to get it on your ROKU, but it's still available. As a matter of fact, if you keep your cable or satellite you can sign in to HBO, Lifetime, etc. through the appropriate ROKU channel and get those too. There are also a TON of private channel you can add to your ROKU lineup. Bottom line, for an initial investment of $99 (for the ROKU-3) you can watch pretty much whatever you want without any more charges (unless you subscribe to a pay channel).

So glad we dropped cable and purchased the Roku 3. We never say there isn't anything on tv anymore. Easy to use and small and discreet.

Roku3 works great except for one issue, I have MLB premium linked to my Roku3 this year and have buffering problems with games. Not sure yet if it is MLB or Roku3 problem yet. I have 57megs down speed, so that is not the issue. I hope it is just preseason bandwidth problems. We shall see.

I just purchased this as I wanted to upgrade my original Roku which I've had for a couple of years. This product allows me to enjoy not only the internet TV programs I love, but offers so much more! Being able to use the headphones from the remote is so convenient and the HD picture couldn't be clearer. This is a terrific product and I always recommend it!

I purchased the Roku about a month ago and absolutely love everything about it. The easy installation is great and the program options are wonderful and can be customized. The remote is well made and smooth to operate. I had purchased another brand a few years ago and there is simply no comparison. This product is phenomenal and yet simple to use.

When I realized I was enjoying streaming more (due scheduling convenience and the vast array of programming choices) I decided to upgrade from my wii and began to explore various streaming setups.
For 4 months i visited friends who had wide range of streaming setups - from hooking up laptops or tablets to their tv's via hdmi cables to complicated on demand Cable setups where a tv is hooked up to a router or the cable box. Prices on dedicated streaming devices also varied from using your existing wii or xbox to getting high end streaming boxes in the hundreds.
The Roku 3 is one device that sits in the middle of all the setups in terms of price but gets placed on the high end in terms of functionality, service and offerings. It offers more viewing options than its competitors in the same price point range. And the set up was so easy my 65 yr old mother was able to set it up for my kids to watch children;s programming without any commercials. Now i can watch my favorite shows with no lag or buffering, easily and in record time. Plus no need to hire a sitter to go see the latest movie, Roku has partnerships where I can see the same movies that are in the theaters on my widescreen tv from the comfort of my home. I save money on gas, food, sitter and the time and frustration hunting for parking.
Thanks Roku for freeing me from the constraints of entertainment studios.
