Really cool device. Easy to use - my little nieces are able to operate it themselves.

This is my 2nd Roku. I love the concept and the continued improvements. While I predict we will not recognize our media interfaces 10 years from now, I also predict that Roku will be right in the middle of it.

One place to watch all popular streaming services, Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, Hulu, and many others. Very easy to set up, find and add new channels. Works well with Plex channels and server for custom content.

I bought the device 3 months ago, and I've been sporadically using it. The UI is pretty neat and easy to use. However, given my expected usage, it is lacking some basic functionality: a browser (to read the news) and a screen sharing channel (like the Apple and Google counterparts). For most people this won't be an issue, since you're not sharing your screen on the TV or reading the news there, and if you're expecting that, then you should probably get a different product.
Also, if you don't have a cable subscription, most channels will be useless, so be sure to have one first =).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

At first, I was not sure why I would need the Roku since my TV had some of the many of the features. Having used it for over a year, I can say not only is it vastly superior to the built in features of my TV, but it does a lot more, is easier to use, and has a wonderful remote. I highly recommend the Roku 3!

I updated to Roku 3 after having a Roku LT for a year. The 3rd generation is considerably faster, with a responsive remote. Our Roku is in a separate room from our wireless router, and I noticed the streaming seems smoother too, in addition to the processor speed, perhaps the Roku has a stronger antenna for Wifi. In any case, it is our preferred streaming device in the house (over PS3, PC and Slingbox).
The feature which first brought the Roku LT into my home, and is why I also went with the Roku 3, is that the Roku is an equal opportunity device. Other devices which we considered required monthly fees, or were limited to paid content streaming, or blocked competition. On Roku, we can watch not only our paid subscription services like NetFlix, Hulu and HBOgo, but also find a huge selection of free channels - which are not available on other streaming devices. I applaud Roku for keeping their channel choices wide open, the variety of streaming channels is one of the great benefits of Roku.

We were without television for a few months because my husband did something stupid and messed up our signal. Roku to the rescue--we had recently purchased it because I kept whining about how I wanted to be able to watch Amazon and YouTube on television, and I also wanted to be able to share with my husband the videos I was watching. We both became so dependent on Roku and even my husband, who is computer-challenged, learned to navigate the channels and options easily and expertly. We LOVE Roku.
