I Love My Windows Media Center but Roku is Easier

I bought a Roku 3 for my son to use at college. Before he left, we set it up and used it at home, and my entire family loved it. I've used Windows Media Center PCs for years, and I was tired of waking it up to access Netflix, so I bought another Roku 3 for ourselves.
The remote could be improved by separating and highlighting the more frequently-used buttons, such as the "quick rewind" and "back" buttons.
The Roku would easier to configure if it were possible to attach a USB keyboard for entering login credentials. The next best thing would be to enhance the Roku Windows Store app so that it could add channels to the Roku (and enter logins). This is the only reason I removed a star from the easy-to-use category.

Great option for older TVs

We bought the Roku 2 since it has HDMI and Composite video and audio outputs. We love our older Sony Plasma TV but it does not have HDMI inputs so we are able to enjoy the Roku media by using the composite RCA jacks! We use it at home and then take it on the road when we visit Dad ( who only has basic cable) so we can enjoy Netflix and Amazon prime movies at both locations! We are thrilled with the quality and services available! Since purchasing the Roku we have cut back on the services we were purchasing each month from Direct TV and are saving money!

Works when it wants to.

We've been using the roku for approximately six months now, and have grown increasingly frustrated by the unit. It works fine about 75% of the time, but will often freeze on the menu screen or just go black altogether, requiring a hard restart (unplug the unit, plug it back in and wait for it to reboot).
The selection of TV episodes and movies available through M-GO is comparable to other devices, and we've had no issues with billing, etc. Our only complaint is with the functionality of the unit itself, and unless that issue is corrected in newer models, I would not be inclined to purchase another roku.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Use Friendly

I am not the most tech savvy person however; this Roku box was the easiest device to set up; the instructions were comprehendible and I had the Roku up and running in less than 15 minutes. Setup requires internet from another device (computer, phone, tablet, etc.) and then your Roku player will search for surrounding Wi-Fi. Hopefully your Wi-Fi shows up, enter your Wi-Fi's password on the Roku and it's smooth sailing from there.
My family enjoys all of the movie apps; if we can't find a movie on one app then we are sure to find it on another app.

I bought my Roku 1 last fall when I decided to ditch cable. I've used it pretty much every day since then. I do have subscriptions to netflix, hulu plus and daily burn. The only issue I've had is an inability to watch tv shows in real time since the demise of aereo. I use my standard tv antennae now for that purpose. Roku set up was simple. No complaints. I recommend it!!

Great alternative to cable

We have had our Roku 1 for about 5 months. Huge channel selection , some new movies and shows most of the free stuff is older. Amazon Instant is a joke, Hulu is ok as is Netflix. There is something for everyone , you just have to look for it. I love that I can work it from my IPhone . The one complaint that I have is that sometimes the Roku will reset itself during a show. It may happen 2-3 times during a 45 minute show. It's very frustrating to have to find your show again and then fast forward to the correct scene.

Not so expensive but worth every penny, no need to buy an additional cable box for my kids, and set up was easy! Only reason I voted 4/5 stars is just is b/c u still have to pay for subscriptions for the channels but I already had it so it was cool plus there are plenty of other free channels like YouTube, pandora and veto etc...
