awesome w little glitches

got it for my mom. she's in another state, but i had no trouble helping her install everything and get it started over the phone. she's in an area where she cannot get direct tv, so this was the next best thing for her. the only problem i am having with roku 3 is that the standard channel it uses for the remote to communicate w the device jams up her wifi. i changed this from 2.4 to 5 and it seemed to fix it temporarily but now it's causing issues again. it prevents anything from connecting to her wifi. the roku is hooked up w eternet cable. i contacted roku about this and they said to change it to channel 11 because nothing else uses that channel and that it should resolve the issue for good. i'll have to give it some time and see if that's the case. besides this issue, the roku 3 has been awesome for my mom. she views korean news, some korean drama, and even some channels available thru my timewarner log in info.

Works very well when it works

I love the content and generally ease of use. However, mine fails too frequently. Recently, the remote just quit working right in the middle of a movie. Fortunately, the technical help is very good but req'd about 1/2 hour on the phone to completely reboot the entire ROKU system. Often, I have to unplug the unit and plug it back in again if I haven't used if for a few days. If it wasn't for this annoying behavior I would give it 5 stars.

A VERY LOUD & CLEAR alternative 2 cable!

EVERYTHING you could want or expect it 2 be..I had basically done w-o TV for about 2 years after I realized what a ripoff cable actually was, & WHY IN THE WORLD DOES ANYONE NEED 200-300 CHANNELS? God..I'm SO past that..this little black box provides 1 with all the entertainment you could possibly need/want..sorry to lose the Aereo capability, but I've found that I can pick up the free local major/secondary network digital channels where I live with that indoor flatwave digital antenna just fine. I'm a ROKU DUDE!

Just what I was looking for

The entertainment business has joined forces and at least for the time being it remains difficult to marry the TV/movie/music to the internet other than communication. The actual interaction with the open "outside world" is sadly not possible. All we're going to get is Video/music and pictures and "approved" apps that have no avenue of escape. With this in mind Roku is excellent at using what they can do and providing access to a great variety of content. I purchased the latest and greatest blu-ray to act as my media hub and great player (3-D). After I realized that it isn't a good media hub I started re-investigating the choices. Samsungs, new BDH5900 3-D has a lot of apps but they are all internal. If is isn't offered in the "OPRA TV STORE" it isn't available. end of story. 1/3 of the apps offered were or no interest or not in English. I decided to return the blu-ray even though it is a good player, I purchased a Roku 3. I immediately saw that the quality of apps offered, the flexibility/ease of use that I had made a good decision. Now I don't need a blu-ray, I'll just stream through my Roku. Very happy with my purchase, btw I plug my headset into the remote, put it in my pocket and walk around the house rocking to my own music and nobody is bothered by it maybe being a little loud. Great addition.

Roku Stick

I've had two ROKU Sticks for about 2 months, They work great when they work. Both sticks have lost connection and have had to be hard rebooted to reconnect.

I bought one for myself,then got one for my husband, another for the kitchen so I can follow my programs. Love the option of waching what I want, not what others decide.
