will not stream in 5.1

Player is nice but will not stream in 5.1 surround. I had to go back to the Roku 2. Very disappointed.

I went to Home Depot just to see what out there Roku was recommended to me So I had purchase it and I am Glad I did it has excellent audio comparable to movie theater.

Frequent purple screen when streaming

I love the product when it works right. It's prone to frequent purple screen when you stream video of any sort. It dosent do it all the time but when it starts it keeps doing it for a very love time. You have to swap hdmi ports with the stick. Irritating.

Economical Alternative

I now have two Rokus and have shut off my cable - I can find all the things I originally got cable for - family programming (don't have to worry about lurid commercials) - There is enough variety to watch "on demand" what I would prefer to. Through purchase of one channel and access because of a subscription to an internet company I already have, there is always something to watch - Lots of free stuff as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I first bought the roku 1 and the channels you get are great!!!! I wanted youtube too so I bought roku 3 also, wow it is alsome. Im telling everybody I know.

Bought Roku 3. Easy to set up to work with a home network. Easy to use -- maximum utility from a minimum number of buttons. You can even add "unoffical" channels if you know how. Only had to "reboot" the thing (simple power cycle) once in 10 months.
I would recommend this to a friend!

There are times when the Roku 3 unit will act like the old Japanese, kung-fu, movies I used to see when I was a kid--the words come out before the lips move--very comical. Other than that, the unit works well. Why I didn't give it a fifth star because of the accessories component: There should be a place here when I can order more accessories when necessary and NOT order a complete unit, i.e., headphones.

my TV would not accept the more recent releases. The interface is wonky and does not compare to the Netflix interface. Maybe the newer versions have made the tracking better...hope so.
