I love my little Roku Box

Love my new toy, it works like a dream, so happy I purchased this amazing box, love all the movies I can now watch and tv shows....bye bye Verizon fios and your high prices....highly recommend this machine to anyone who wants to save cash.

I got this as a replacement/alternative to viewing NetFlix using my Blu-ray player, I was just fed up with the re buffering that was occurring while trying to watch anything. I read the reviews for the Roku (various versions) and decided that this was the way to go for streaming, and boy was I right.
Set-up was a breeze, I connected it to our 802.11n wireless network and started the process of connecting to NetFlix, Amazon Video, Pandora etc. A quick tip, if you have a smart phone get the app straight away, it allows you to enter the usernames and passwords from your smart phone rather than using the on-screen keyboard.
Once set-up was complete we started viewing some content and was blown away at the ease of use of the software and the immediacy of the streaming, something that we had never experienced with our previous set-up. To-date we have had 2 or 3 blips from NetFlix where we lost a connection, all other times there have been no times where we saw the dreaded "re buffering" message.
I like the search facility, this allows me to search for a movie by name and the Roku will show me where it is available to stream from, then, if you don't have the app it will offer to download it for you. Much easier than going to the various services individually.
I already mentioned the smart phone app, I have the iOS version, it is great for typing in things to search for, usernames etc. but it not as good as a physical remote control (in my opinion) as you have to know where the buttons are on the screen rather than just feeling where they are on the remote. With regard to the remote control, it has probably the best feature that I have seen in a long time, the remote has an earphone jack, when you plug in your earphones it cuts the sound to the TV. What this means is that if you are watching something and you do not want to disturb anyone else in the house you can just plug in your earphones and watch in private, very cool. Also the remote control uses wireless to communicate to the Roku box which means that you can tuck it away out of sight.
One thing that could be improved overall is the way you find channels (or apps), there does not seem to be a way of searching for an app you just have to browse or know where to get it from.
Finally the Roku 3 comes with games, I got Angry Birds Space thrown in when I purchased the unit, the game seemed to work fine, nice to see it on a 55" HD screen but I don't think that I will be using this feature too much.
Overall we are very happy with the unit, it is small, and just tucks away in a corner somewhere, it is on all the time, it just works and there is nothing to do, these guys got it right!

I wish the buffer were larger but overall its a great product. Our internet is up and down but only occasionally do we have it stop during a show.

I am so happy with my Roku. Got rid of cable and I am saving over 100.00 a month plus I can watch so much more. Love it!

This product is awesome. It's small easy to use and has a ton of the streaming apps and choices I use. Some folks have complained that the new interface is more difficult and less intuitive than Roku 1 and 2. I never used them so wasn't "tainted". For a first time user I think it's great. I especially like how small and out of the way it is. I don't really play any of the games so I can't comment on the motion sensitive remote.

Let me start with the low and end with the high. My biggest most frustrating problem with my Roku and the reason it did not rate 5 stars is that it freezes. I have had to manually "re-set" the unit several times in an attempt to continue using it despite the owners manual stating this should rarely if ever happen. I considered having it looked at under "Warranty" and found the warranty to only be for 90 Days. Maybe that is okay for some circumstances however, in my case, the Roku was not even set up until I had it several months due to my housing situation so before I really even had the chance to break it in the warranty was out. Now the highs. I LOVE Roku despite the above mentioned. It is affordable, simple to operate and gives me all I need plus more. Could not have made a better decision. Ditch cable.... Go Roku!
