I am in love with this little thing!

I was reluctant about getting a streaming box because Apple TV seemed lame at best and really overpriced; however I decided to give Roku a chance and I haven't stopped watching TV since. There are SO many channels to pick from that paying for cable seems ridiculous and most of the best channels are free! Also, the remote is perfect and the headphone jack is a stroke of genius (I was going to but wireless headphones and the Roku saved me $100 with this little extra).
I would recommend this to a friend!

Freezes up a lot , not happy at all With this product, very inconvenient looking up channels, and then sound goes out completely.

USB function needs improvement

USB function needs improvement. Movies played from the USB will often crash the system (reboots). Sadly, the USB feature is why I bought this device. Now, I wish I would have bought the Apple TV. The other features of the device seem alright I hope they get more "Live" TV channels in the near future. I did recommend it to a friend (before I tried the USB feature/failure). His does the same thing (reboots in the middle of a USB movie). Now he is unhappy too.

The roku 3 I got was easy to set up and had most of the channels I wanted. It is a great little device that runs very smoothly. I haven't had any issues and the picture quality has been good.

I don't go out to the movies often so I am happy I can watch fairly recent movies on my Roku. I love the wide selection of channels. I am always entertained.

product is good for the numerous channels. For amazon prime, my wi-fi Sony blue-ray player gets reception where the roku does not.

Not What I Expected

This is the first video streaming device that I've owned, and it just isn't what I had expected. Unfortunately, since many of the major networks have still not bought into this idea, the availability of major channels (i.e. Food Network, A&E, Fox, ABC, etc.) is limited. For those that are available, much of the most recent content is available, but only for a limited time. Also, a multitude of channels only contain video clips and nothing else. The remaining channels appear to be independent channels that have been created as a result of this concept. Some of these are interesting, but much of the content is relatively plain and almost feels like they were filmed using a B-rate movie budget (which may actually be true). All of this is in regards to the free content. As for the remainder, signing up for Hulu Plus, Netflix, MGo, or Amazon Prime unlocks much more content and each has its own pros and cons. Given the price of cable and satellite this portion of the investment is quite worthwhile.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
