I was an Google TV user for the past couple of years. I Bought a Roku just to see how it worked. I liked it so much I bought a second one when my Sony Internet player went in for repair.

I purchased my Roku 3 a month ago, and I do love it! It's easy to customize, personalize, and use, and I want to stress that all the good things outweigh the two little bugs I've experienced using it.
Pros: -Small, lightweight -Durable -Fast -Easy to use - connect to TV then to power and you're good to go -High content - I subscribe to Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime, and I can access all of these and thousands of more. I also got one called Plex that allows me to organize and access all the TV shows and movies that I have on my computer. -Lots of helpful forums online - when I experienced one bug, I was able to quickly search for a fairly quick fix because there are so many people online that are willing to help.
Cons: -Whenever I turn off my tv then turn it on again, I can't watch any videos without getting a purple screen that says "HDCP unauthorised. Content disabled." I researched this and found that if I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in, it works fine. I don't have to reset anything, so it takes a couple seconds, so my only complaint is that it makes me get out of bed :P but I'd like to stress that from what I've read this isn't necessarily a Roku 3 issue. Most people claim it to be an HDMI cable issue (I bought a new one in case, and still have the problem) and others claim it is the TV firmware that is having a problem syncing up with the HDMI cable, which makes sense to me. Some say an HDMI cable longer than 4ft helps this issue, but mine was 6ft to begin with and I still had it. Either way, I remove half a star from my rating because of this issue, but I would have purchased it even if I knew of the problem, because it is so minor. -My second problem is that three or four times in the past month that I've owned my Roku 3, when I start a movie or show (usually on Netflix) I find that the audio is a bit too fast, causing it to be at a slightly higher pitch. I watched half a movie with it like this, thinking "Wow, that little girl's voice is so high pitched..." before I realized it was an audio problem. I just hit the home button and went back and resumed the movie where I left off, and the problem was resolved. It was more obnoxious when I put on a show I watch regularly and noticed it right off the bat, but the loading speed of the movies and shows is so fast that it doesn't bother me too much to hit the home button and then go back to where I was watching. Once again, maybe this is a TV/HDMI thing. My TV is a 32 inch Emerson LCD from Walmart that I bought two years ago, if that helps anyone, and my current HDMI is a BlueRigger High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet (3 Feet). Again, I take off half a star because of this issue, but it's really not a big problem.

I bought it to watch Netflix on my TV (was using my laptop) . Bought it to use the headphones in the remote and I really enjoy that feature.

Straight Forward - very smooth

It took me a long time to make the decision to buy a Roku. I cancelled my Netflix Subscription a few years back after the price hike drama. Not to mention they were doing poorly on content back then. Today they're back on track and content is great. Therefore, I decided to buy roku at the same time as renewing my netflix subscription, mostly because I wanted to see what roku was all about, and because the PS3 is too cumbersome to be used as a dedicated streaming source. Rolu offered a light weight package for exactly the thing I'd be doing.
I chose the Roku as my streaming box for my crusade to eliminate commercials from my entertainment time. I've installed and uninstalled several apps. The ones that get a lot of use right now are Netflix, PBS, and plex. I tried Hulu... and perhaps if they did a better job of delivering their commercials I could have tolerated the service. But when binging a full season of your show, seeing the same three commercials every 7 minutes is a punch in the gut.
The Box seems to sail smoothly through my media, both in the interface and while loading queries, and bouncing back and forth between channels.
I have my Harmony 650 set up to control Roku through IR. This works great for simple navigation, but I'll pull out the little Roku remote to get a better experience and if I'm watching for extended periods of time. I recommend one of those hollow books to hold extra remotes if you use a setup similar to mine.
Surround sound audio is sent accurately to my receiver. No problems there. I love the headphone jack in the remote - I've watched a few movies or TV shows while my wife was studying nearby, or asleep. Very useful.

I bought 3 months ago, I was not sure in the beginning if this is a good choice or not, but Roku proves itself. I can watch shows that I missed last week or so without having to record it ... Love Roku
