ROKU 3 is really the bomb !!!!

Bought this to replace a Sony DVD player that allowed streaming. The ROKU 3 is MUCH MUCH better than the Sony!! No freezing up with Netflix and other movie streaming sites. Graphics & navigation through line ups is very EASY. Even better graphics and previews/details of movies. Like it so much, I purchased another ROKU 3 the next day to replace the Sony DVD player in another room.

In daily use, 1 caveat...

I've been using my Roku 3 for about a month now. I can honestly say that we use it practically every day for different things. I enjoy many of the apps that are included. And I have a couple of media center apps installed, which comes to my caveat. While Netflix and Amazon pass a surroundsound signal just fine, the Plex and MyMedia apps only play stereo, not surround, even though I know that the files I am playing have surroundsound embedded. I don't know if it's a problem with the apps, or with the Roku 3. But that doesn't stop us from enjoying using it every single day.

ROKU 3

Works as described. Highly recommend. Saves money vs. premium cable channels. Only wished that I'd bought it sooner. The only flaw as I see it, is the ability to switch between the Roku 3 a regular TV. If you have more than 2 HDMI TV plugs you'll be fine. Otherwise, you will need to manually switch from the ROKU to regular TV. Just a minor annoyance....

Its a great option. All the reviews confirm that already.
One BIG miss is an actual app for Slingbox. The have a bs workaround to use your android or iphone but considering Boxee had a legit app and Roku is supposed to be the best I am disappointed in this glaring omission.

Great Selection Available

I wasn't sure sure about the Roku, but it has exceeded my expectations.  Channel selection is great and very easy to use.  The only thing i would like to see added as a feature is the ability to turn off or stop streaming video if the TV is turned off or switched to a different HDMI port/antenna.  I think overall it is still a great product.

Much Better Than Anticipated

I initially thought of the Roku as a stop gap. A small purchase to fill the void that was my bedroom. Well BOY was I wrong. My first problem was that I owned an Apple TV, well let me correct that. It's not that the Apple TV is a problem, it is that is limited to the very few applications that they think that you need. Enter the Roku. First off Plex Media Server is amazing and is at the forefront of what I use my Roku for. Yes the Apple TV can be jimmy rigged to work with Plex but why when you have something that already works.
Roku has more channels than I can throw my sticks, my wife's sticks and probably your sticks at. I found a soccer channel albeit a bit expensive (haven't signed up yet) which is awesome. I can use a friends Verizon login so that I can access Disney and other cable channels (ESPN for me). In case you have not figured as yet, we cut cable. It was too expensive and we watched TV probably seven hours per week between my wife and I.
The remote is AH-mazing! The motion sensor, headphone jack built in (my favourite feature). I am in love. 1080p, my eyes sizzle. OH, and the remote does not need a line of sight and does not need to be all in your grill (I'm hip). So it is behind my TV out of sight.
Last thing, the APP available for my iPhone is awesome. Allows direct paths to my installed channels. No need to browse and scroll. I am all about direct access.

Roku is great if you do not have cable.

Roku is great for those who are cable cutters. If you still have cable then it can be a little under used. It great for those who want to watch the new WWE Network or UFC fight pass on tv.

I bought this 6 weeks ago and Love it. Netflix is flawless with not hangups or pauses. I can not believe how small it is, it is just the about the size of a hockey puck. Took me a little bit to find the remote pairing button just below the battery compartment. I am hoping one day that it will replace Directv and stream all the programs.
