Love the apps

I love my roku! It's a really easy way to turn my tv into a "smart tv" without having to actually buy one. I also like that the device is small enough to travel with me, so I can bring it to a friend's house or on vacation. My biggest complaint is not about the device itself, but rather that many of the apps I use don't have full functionality compared to what I have on the computer (for example, Pilates Anytime doesn't access all of my queue, HBO Go doesn't work at all because of some weirdness between DirectTV and roku that I don't understand). Still worth it to me though!

Bye Bye Cable TV!

My new year's resolution was to cut the cord on cable TV. After careful consideration I purchased the Roku 3 (with Angry Birds Space) and have enjoyed it immensely. I subscribe to Hulu and Netflix, and the selection of great shows for my kids is unbelievable. What is even better, NO COMMERCIALS! I should have gotten a Roku device a long time ago. Worthwhile purchase, two thumbs up.

Good, with some exceptions

Bought this as an addition to an older Roku 2xs, for use in another room. It is hardwired to a 40mbps download internet connection. The Netflix app has been re-written for this unit, mainly no more replay from beginning function, movie has to start playing to change audio options, or check for CC. Some of the movies have a new audio format called Dolby Digital Plus, and if surround sound is selected as an audio option in settings, and your system doesn't support DD+, you will get no sound. Otherwise, we basically watch only two streaming channels, and it works well. Good sharp picture, and very little, or no, buffering or pauses. Draws very little power (3.5w) and is on 24/7. It does run a little warm. The headphone audio output is only useful if there is one person watching, as it cuts off the main audio to the TV. Initial setup is simple, although it adds a whole bunch of channels to home screen, most of very little interest. If it weren't for the audio problem with Netflix, I would have given it 5 stars. I thought there should have been some kind of warning (an instruction book would have been a help) that selecting "surround" in the audio setup menu might result in no sound if you didn't have the correct audio setup. Would have saved me a lot of time, and calls to Roku.

Stable and Fast

I've had the Roku 3 for a few months now, and it has exceeded my expectations. We mainly use it to watch Netflix, but the other channels have been interesting to browse. We also have a Wii that we were using to connect to Netflix, but the connection was so flaky that I decided to get a Roku to use instead. It's stable and fast, which is all I could ask for. I also love the Roku app where you can use your smartphone as a remote or stream music, photos, or videos from your phone. I would definitely recommend the Roku 3 to others.

Luv, luv, luv our new Roku. We cut our cable down to the bare minimum and having been using the Roku for mostly Netflix and the free fitness channels. Haven't missed t.v. at all!

Fast & Easy

I tried using my DVD player but so slow and not many channel choices. Roku seems commited to giving you the channel choices you want. The picture / sound quality is superb. I bought a 2nd. unit to cut down on complaints.

We pay for 100 channels on out tv an there is Never anything good on. Now I just go to my Roku and watch whatever I want or catch ip on shows I missed. Love, love , love my Roku,
