I had been reading about a competitors product, but then I saw a head-to-head comparison and decided to investigate the Roku 3 further. After much research I decided this was the product for us. I purchased it on Cyber-Monday in 2013 and a nice discount and went straight home to set it up. No problems.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Smarter that "SMART"

From what is have seen of friends & relatives Smart TVs, I much more prefer our ROKU player. The ease of installing, operation, and yes, troubleshooting make it extremely simple to use.  We use it 24/7. If other members of our family didn't need regular TV programs, we would dispense with having cable.  My feeiling is that If you have a TV, you are missing out BIG TIME if you don't have a ROKU.

Been a month since i bought Roku and have been using it daily. I use it with cable and hence the most watched channels are HBOGO and WatchESPN. Havn't encountered a single issue with streaming, picture quality or navigation. Works out of the box, setup is a breeze and usability excellent. Overall i would say it's totally worth the money and a must have gadget.

for all of you who have legacy TVs...

We have a ca2007 vintage Sharp Aquos LCD.  The picture is still great but It's not internet friendly.  In the last couple of years, to watch movies on Netflix and other internet sources I routed the signal through an ethernet cable into a Sony BluRay player, ca2009, then into the TV.  In the last few months we were getting endless hiccups, reloads, etc on Netflix and just about any other internet source.  After endless troubleshooting sessions I figured out it was the Sony BluRay that was holding things up.  It just wasn't buffering.  Along came the Roku 3, and all of our trouble is now history.  The movies are smooth as silk, the Roku interface is much improved over any of the competitions, life is good.  I still hate entering text via a clicker but maybe someday....

This is an amazing little device!! The sound quality and HD blow Direct tv away. I didn't realize how bad my sound quility and "HD" were until I hooked this little bad boy up. It's also a huge overall value.
