I have several services available directly through my "smart" TV. My internet connection is on the slower end of DSL, and I consistently have problems with programs (shows and movies) freezing when played directly on the TV. With the new Roku, I have used it pretty much every day for a month, and have yet to have a single program freeze on it. I thought with my internet connection, it was just not possible to get the programs to work correctly, and now I realize the Roku just works better than the TV. I am very impressed.

I bought this because I was sick and tired of nothing to watch on cable, which is hard to believe because I have over 250 channels to choose from. I like that I can watch what I want when I want. I also can customize the channels on it to what I want. It is very easy to set up and watch. I love the earphones that allow to watch in the middle of the night without disturbing everyone in the house.

One month use experience is very good, however, Netflix (or Roku?) keeps asking for sign in and password which is a pain given the hunt and peck entry process. Also Netflix format does not make looking at queue very user friendly compared to computer view. But, nonetheless, Roku is much better than my "smart" Samsung tv offering. I am seriously considering a dumb tv + Roku for my next purchase.

Should have bought this a long time ago

I had been considering buying a Roku for months. Last month, I finally did, dropped the cable down to local channels only (as much as I love my Roku, I live near Moore, Oklahoma. Local weather is a requirement here) plus HBO (because Game of Thrones is a must have), and it is probably the best purchase I've ever made. My television has been used more in the past month that I've had my Roku than it has in the past two years now that I can stream all my Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOGO, Hulu +, Vudu, and other content on it instead of my PC.
Seriously the best hundred dollars I've ever spent--and it paid for itself in the first month with the savings on the cable bill that I no longer pay.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Roku 3 is great

We purchased two of these streamers and have been very happy with them. They set up easily and the view on our HD TVs is really nice.
One caution is that they need an HDMI cable that does NOT come with the streamer. We purchased at Best Buy and the clerk knew enough to put one in our order. He had had other customers returning unhappily to purchase when they discovered the cable was not included.

Roku 3 is my 2nd Roku device. Love the performance of the Roku 3 and love the Bluetooth remote. Ability to plug in headphones to remote is a great feature. Excellent technical support provided by Roku tech support when I had an issue with streaming video stopping. Turns out it was a problem with my router - which Roku tech support was able to determine by troubleshooting the Roku device.
I'm a cord-cutter and I love the fact that I can get more than enough to watch without a monthly cable or satellite bill.
