It was this or an Apple TV. I'm glad it was the Roku 3. The app choice is immense, and the speed in which the Roku selects and starts them is VERY fast. I like the HDMI connection capability. Haven't tried the headphone connector. This is the way to stream media. I'm hooked!

This does more than I could have every imagined. It takes up barely any space at all. I can watch movies, play games, go online, and do so much. Very reasonable price for all the options you are allowed.

Best streaming device out there!!!!

I thought it would be a slow streaming device because of the size, but no the speed this little thing can pack is outstanding. I like the feature that it can play angry birds, and the fact that it comes with Angry Birds Space. the great thing about it is that you can stream movies and TV shows at no additional cost. Another thing about it is that you can rent movies that are not on Netflix yet.

Excellent device

I owned one of the older Roku boxes and while it was much better than my DVD player for accessing different channels, it would always buffer with each show I was watching. Also, the quality was not that great. Then came the Roku 3 - WOW! It is fast, intuitive to use, and excellent quality video. My wife hasn't watched much regular TV since I bought it. There is an extensive list of channels to choose from, and many of them are free.
I would highly recommend the Roku 3.

My use case is to stream audio from my Pandora account while streaming a slideshow from my Flickr account. The Roku 3 could not do this. My WD Live + can. I understand from the forum that the Roku3 can only do one "channel" at a time.

Overall, I liked the Roku 3 ... ease of use and well designed connectivity to internet sources of programs. I primarily watch movies and live sporting events. There are minimal sports to watch with the Roku 3 (NCAA basketbal, NBA, football, etc.), so the Roku brought no value for sports. The free movies available are low quality and poorly rated ... not movies I enjoy watching. The quality movies worth watching are from pay sources that I can use without a Roku (Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc.) so the Roku brought no additional value for movies. I decide to return it and purchase an Android TV box ... more flexibility, more program choices, and a regular operating system that allows additional apps to be installed.
I may have keep the Roku if there had been a web browser and access to the underlying operating system to allow modifications. But for the price, the Android TV box offers more.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
