I asked for the roku as a gift because I wanted to stream netflix and I didn't want to pay xbox live's subscription fee. I should have done more research, because when I received it I didn't realize that it only supports HDMI. I bought an HDMI to DVI converter to play it on my TV (which isn't that old), and then found that DVI converters don't support audio. I didn't want to go through the hassle of sending it back to my parents for them to return it, so it looks like I've got to buy another cable that also converts audio. I love the Roku, I just wish there was an easier solution to a problem that I'm sure many people experience.

Netflix and Youtube apps are great. Local media streaming is next to useless, only plays mpg files. Would not recommend unless you're only streaming.

Disappointed that Roku does not work with regular TV channels. Also no way to turn the unit off, so constantly changing batteries.

A great little device

I have seen some people on various sites saying they have had problems with the Roku devices not working properly or always losing the Internet Signal. The Roku 3 doesn't seem to have any of those problems. Very easy to navigate around, lots of channels to check out, and I highly recommend Crackle if you are just looking for a free channel to watch. Great device and I hope to see many more free channels making their way to this device in the future.

We discontinued our cable TV service and switched to the Roku and we are glad we did. The only thing I wish it had was better live event streaming. I was very disappointed that to use ESPN Watch, I had to have a cable TV subscription. Kind of defeats the purpose, huh?
