Great Buy!

I bought this a month ago and it's amazing. Since I am trying to reduce my cable bill, this is the perfect solution to enhance my viewing experience! Bravo for a well designed product.

I like having access to a ton of channels. Only thing I don't like is that you have to have a cable provider to watch certain channels (Disney). Kind of defeats the purpose of buying this thing.

I bought the ROKU 3, it was very easy to set up, and after picking our channels (like History Channel, PBS, etc.) found that we were able to get almost 100% of the shows we liked to watch from Comcast. Then we cancelled all but basic cable for local channels and sports (Seahawks!). We cut our cable bill from $244 a month to $17.99. We should have done this years ago! NOW if ROKU could only get a hookup with the NFL...they will effectively kill the satellite and cable companies business model.

I had previously bought a Roku 3 for my daughters and was so impressed I ran out and bought my own. It’s a fantastic device that more than compensates for our poor local digital cable service.

Deciding to buy not a mistake

When I decided to cut back on my satellite TV bill, I made Roku part of my plan. I dropped my premium channels, saving enough to easily pay for the Roku. Now I have an easy way to get movies from Netflix and Amazon Prime, without bringing out a computer and plugging it in to the big screen (70") in the living room.
It was easy to set up, and it is easy to use. Lots of extra channels for content. I use Plex with it to view content from my desktop computer as well.

I ordered two roku3 units. One did not work, as the remote was not functional. A bit of a challenge to replace.
The big problem is that the ROKU is really only a good idea if you are doing away with your cable or dish and are only going to stream. But then you cannot access cable stations or even local stations. The ROKU is a novel toy, not much else
