bought this unit about month ago and it is a useless piece of junk--waste of my money--hand unit keeps disconnecting from unit and wont reconnect unless I pull batteries and then turn unit of and reconnect--happens several time within a hour so I quit using it--DONT BUY ROKU 3

I bought the Roku about a month ago. As a senior, I was looking for a way to cut corners and still have great content. I cancelled my premium movie channels and stepped down a level with my cable service, saving more considerably more each month than a Netflix subscription would cost. The Roku will pay for itself in less than 3 months. I am also pleased with the variety of free Roku channels, which I have just begun to explore. I have been sharing movie watching with a friend and we've both been very pleased. I've told several other seniors they should consider Roku as an option if they have an up-to-date T.V.

It freezes all the time. We rented a movie and couldn't even watch it cause it kept freezing. You also have to have cable to get channels which defeats the purpose of the roko

Great for Slingbox!

I tried the netgear unit to use with my slingbox when I am traveling and it was a terrible experience. I started with the netgear neo because the rep at Slingbox said it is better. He is obviously out of his mind. The Roku 3 is really easy to use (be warned that you must use the app on your ipad/ipod, or whatever device you use as the remote control that comes with the Roku only gets you to the Slingbox app, then you must use your device as the remote control) But using the Slingbox to watch on an actual TV is the easiest with the Roku. On another note, I'm going to get one for my folks so they can get Netflix on their "dumb" tv and I'm sure they will enjoy many of the apps that are available. Highly recommend!

Reviewers complaints explained

I have read a few of the complaints and a few things you need to know. This is not a cable provider, you don't channel surf as you would on "regular" TV. This is a great way to use internet TV and your buy the pay stations that you want like Redbox or Hulu Plus and tons of free B movie stations. For about $15 a month you can have 2 pay video stations and all the obscure movies you can possible want. Give it 6 months to try and learn and your love it or pay $150 a month for Cable.
