I have a subscription to both Netflix and Amazon Prime, and the Roku is just the ticket! I also own a Tivo, and it also has access to Netflix. But I never use the Tivo to watch Netflix movies because it is not nearly as good an experience as the Roku. Plus, the Tivo does not support Amazon Prime like the Roku does. Way to go, Roku!

I bought this device because I was disappointed with a netgear neotv prime I had purchased previously. As is the case most of the time, you get what you pay for, and the Roku is by far the best media streamer out there, it is well worth the price and I couldn't be more happy with it.

Bye bye painful disjointed HTPC, HELLO ROKU!

I spent about $800 building a fancy HTPC to connect to my NAS, stream local content, pull in Netflix, Aereo, Amazon, etc. What a nightmare! Switching between xbmc, browsers, logins, tweaking this and that. I must have spent 8 hours trying to config. I bought a Roku 3 and within 15 mins I had everything all in one central place, and everyone in the family can easily use it. Truly amazing device, fraction of time, fraction of price. Win, Win, Win!

We have had the Roku 3 about a month and really have enjoyed watching movies and our favorite TV episodes. It was easy to set up and is easy to use.

The Roku 3 is the most incredibly easy device for video watching. If you subscribe to any services such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, there is no better way to get the best value out of those services than with the Roku. For ease of setup and use, there is nothing else that compares to it. This device is also a very good value at a reasonable price.

I myself, am a minimalist. I am plenty happy with Netflix alone (and Hulu Plus). I bought the Roku because we had been living without cable for a full year and we had been using Netflix instead. We previously had hooked up an OLD desktop computer to our TV and used Netflix that way, but it was really annoying to have to use the keyboard and the mouse to navigate through it. The Roku gives me the "TV experience" with a remote and little box thing.
So we moved the Desktop into my sons room, and now he uses it the way we had it set up in the living room, but he's ok with that. It's nice! I can slunk down onto my couch after a long day and use the remote without having to sit upright at the keyboard and mouse every time the Netflix timed out or I wanted to watch something different.
I like that I can stream my pandora right on my television too. My husband used my romantic "Slow Jams R&B" stations when he set up a nice little dinner for our anniversary last year. It was PERFECT. We pay for Pandora One so there were no commercal interruptions or anything.
We're currently paying only a small fraction of what we'd be paying to have our cable provider set up... And although not every channel I like is available on the Roku, for those trying to live free from the cable companies, it's VERY simply to hook up a laptop or a computer to your TV(there's even wireLESS ways to do it nowadays) and very simple to find websites that stream pre-recorded video of your favorite show online. Project Free TV is an example.
And for those saying "That's too much of a hassle", then go return your Roku and go out and spend $100+ every month for cable and stop complaining!

Great for movies and catching up on some TV shows, kids also love it as there are a lot of cartoon channels. We cut our dish bill by almost half going from the top 200+ down to the Dish America package (60 channels) so that alone will pay for the Roku in 4 months worth of savings. Netflix also streams through the Roku almost perfectly, before we went through our blu-ray for netflix and it was consistently freezing up or lagging behind-We are 100% satisfied with our Roku 3!!
