No need for cable tv

Very happy with roku. Have canceled cable tv. Will use roku for Netflix and Hulu plus. I was under the impression that there were a lot of free channels. Very disappointing to find out that is not true, need a paid subscription for most channels.

Easy to Use! Great features, but ....

This finally disconnected me from cable!! Although I like the features, I like most of the channels, there aren't enough channels that I use (you still need to have cable service to use a lot of the channels available). I wish there was a live FOX News or CNN channel (not just Fox News radio!). Plus ... we are always losing the remote! Maybe a brighter color than black!

Too much hype not a good service

In my mind this was supposed to be a service to end all other services. Did not do what it was supposed to do. First off when I want to stream a movie or a program I don't want to watch commercials. That is unfortunately what you get the most of. On some channels there are movies that I would have wanted to watch but of course they can't play them. TV channels like all of the Disney Channels are not available. You can't watch the shows unless you have a cable company that will provide it to Roku. In my case my cable company will not. Roku wants me to contact the cable company and ask them to start letting Roku do the Disney channels. Movies that you can get you have to pay for or they are too old and outdated for the entertainment of my family needs. Which brings me to the fact if that Roku is nothing more than a VCR/DVR only you cant choose what you want to record.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I received this as a gift and what a gift! I never knew streaming would be so easy and so much fun! And, the customer service is great. Good follow-up and easy to understand instructions.

Great Product

I bought two units, one for home and one for my cabin. Eliminates all that "rebuffing junk" and movie stoppage in midstream. Easy installation and set-up.

Great features

I was looking for a device to streamline television programs and movies to avoid the high cost of cable tv and/or satellite tv. I came across this product and decided to try it and found it to be user friendly and an amazing device. Works really well and I have not had any problems with it. I highly recommend this product.

I am very happy with my Roku purchase and can highly recommend it to others. I happened to purchase an Apple tv at the same time I purchased the Roku. The content on Roku blows Apple away!
