I've used the earlier version of the Roku for two years.I upgraded to the Roku 3 and love it. Very fast downloads, tons of features. I highly recommend it.

The best investment I have made in a while for entertainment purposes, this is my first Roku. Did not even know what a Roku was but now, I am overwhelmed of the value of the product. Thank you Roku!

Ordrerd RUKO3 from Amazon.ca because it was not avaible locality. Arived in 2 days first thing in the morning @ 9:30am setup with my own HDMI cable, and within 1/2 hour login and playing with the remote, but lack of Canadian content IE News, Streaming channels and EMBARGO USA channels, whats up. I do incourage everyone I know to checkout a streaming unit.

I received a Roku 3 for my birthday. I didn't know I wanted one, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm NOT tech savvy but found the Roku 3 easy to install - from taped box to watching a show in less than an hour. I like that I can move it between TVs depending on where in my home I want to watch TV. I love the flexibility of so many channelsl. I highly recommend this product.

Great product, but not perfect

I had a WD TV Hub that I retired in favor of the Roku 3. The Roku has a better interface, more channels, and with the additional of the media player channel it has better management of local movies and local pictures.
On the downside they are missing Amazon Prime, and the HDMI support has a huge annoyance where the TV has to be on the Roku input line at the time the Roku is powered on for HDMI to work. I power-off the Roku once a day to fix the HDMI bug.
Also deleting a channel is painful. You cannot select a channel from your subscribed channels and remove it. You have to go search for it in the subscribed AND unsubscribed list to remove it. It makes trying out a channel a slow process.

This is the Mary Poppins of internet media players. Practically perfect in every way. It looks good and the operating system is snappy and the headphone jack in the remote control is genius. Like the rest of the bunch no one does it all but I think Roku comes the closest. I own a Apple TV and a WD streaming media player. It seems they all have one feature that another lacks The only thing that stop me from giving it 5 stars are 3 small thing that would make it the PERFECT media player. 1 the inability to save favorite shows inside a specific channel ( like my Apple TV allows me) I hate to have to scroll through dozens of shows in Revision 3 just to watch the show I want to watch. 2 not being to see my Roku on my wireless network and send files to an attached hard drive. Like I can with my WD streaming media player #3 The USB port doesn't seem to power down even when the Roku is sleeping. I can constantly hear my hard drive whirring away I keep my hard drive unplugged from the USB port when I'm not using it.

NEW AND GREAT THING TO HAVE

The Roku is a brilliant device with so much potential for the non computer tech person. Like the Chromecast and WII combination the features are similar. One thing the Roku has is a full searchable menu to simply add or remove new channels. With the controller you can navigate the web features and channels in seconds. With your initial PC activation you are able to add hundreds of channels to give you access to news, movies, family programming, sports, games, history, etc. The initial setup is a little intense but totally worth the effort. You will have access to a multiple of free channels with older data, movie, programing others new channels with some pay requirements. With the wireless connection the only thing that you will need to setup a remote TV or current TV is Power and a HDMI socket on a TV or Monitor. You will find the distinction of watching programs on the Roku is a better experience for these reasons; picking what you watch when you want verses watching regular TV experience. Just a very cool and simple device go get one.
