Many "free" shows are not available without cable

This is just ok for me. Most shows can be found online but this is more convenient and the remote is nice. My big complaint is that you don't get access to a lot of channels, eg. a&e and the history channel, unless you have a subscription to some sort of tv provider. I was hoping this would be a viable opportunity to try to do away with cable or satellite as the roku website makes it appear that I can watch many of my favorite shows with it. With that said, it still has a nice feature of watching shows on demand except for two fatal flaws. One is that only certain seasons are available. Another is that roku does not have a relationship with Dish which who I subscribe to. So now I can't enjoy any cost savings or convenience for most cable channels. Basically for me it's an expensive way to watch amazon prime and listen to pandora.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had an old Roku. It wasn't very good. I gave it away. After three or so years i broke down and finallyI bought this new version, Roku 3. This roku has totally changed my opinion about Roku. I would suggest any past unsatisfied user give the new version a try. It is light years ahead of what it used to be.

What an excellent product. It was an effortless setup and I was off and watching! I secured the device to watch Netflix and was surprised to see many other channels available. The feature that blew my socks off was the USB port allowing me to play my camera videos and still photos.

I was a bit skeptical about buying this but I was completely surprised at how easy it was to set up, which only took about 5 minutes. All the movies run fine and there's a lot of channels to choose from. I also like the small size of the unit.
