Easy enough for a techno-novice to use

The Roku was so easy to install, I could do it without calling my son!
It's just as easy to use. It's a great improvement over trying to stream videos using my computer.

Almost perfect!

I replaced two actual HTPCs with Roku 3s so I could have a user friendly experience and bring all my content into one environment. At the same time I also canceled by Comcast tv service and use an HDTV antenna for live local broadcasts. The only reason why I say the device is almost perfect is because of its lack of audio options. Major broadcasters like Netflix are now only streaming in stereo or Dolby Digital Plus. While Dolby Digital Plus is a great new audio format, it absolutely does not work with older receivers (few years old) like a Bose Lifestyle system. The Bose and other receivers without that support simply offer no audio when an unsupported format is there. To make the device perfect, Roku needs to have an option to either convert a Dolby Digital Plus audio stream to standard Dolby Digital 5.1 so surround sound can still be used OR ensure content providers still support legacy audio formats. Unfortunately for me I will have to make a substantial investment into our home theater to get the Dolby Digital 5.1 to work. If you are stuck in the same situation, then you have to switch to stereo to get sound.

We wanted to be free of pay TV. Roku seems to be $9 here, $9 there until we are right back into paying more for TV/commercials than the value warrants.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The streaming is awesome!Quite impressive. there's an enormous amount of channels to choose from, including most popular ones. And if there's something that you can't find in the official store you can always check the private channel listings .love it!

Amazing device

Super simple to set up, not a geek and was nervous it would be difficult, it was a very simple process, just follow the directions.
Used it to cut my cable cord and saved over half of my cable bill with the added benefit of finding things available I never knew existed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy as Pie - Actually easier

The Roku was a gift to me and it sat, unopened in its box, for well over a month!
I was terrified of not being able to set it up. After all, I couldn't even play a DVD most of the time without resorting to calling my daughter to help me. What a waste of time. When I opened the box, realized the cable that I needed, and followed the onscreen directions, I was up and running and watching a movie within 30 minutes. It was so simple that even a technophobe like me could do it. I do well on a computer, but media always threw me for a loop. My only regret is waiting so long to open the box.

The easiest way to access streaming video

After using XBMC for several years, I tired of the constant updates and broken addons. Purchasing the Roku allowed me finally get all my content from one clean, easy to use interface.
