Easy to use out of the box.

Perhaps the simplest piece of new digital equipment I have ever installed. Plug it in, run a HMDI cable to your TV, select that channel/source on your TV, put batteries provided in the remote and follow the on screen instructions. I installed a new N router the same day and they connected wirelessly without hesitation. All done with setup in less than 10 min out of the box and I have never seen or used a similar product before! I then used the excellent Roku 3 on screen menus to sign up for a 30 day free trial of Hulu Plus and Netflix and that took about 10 min each. In 1/2 hour I had Netflix, Hulu Plus and dozens of free channels provided thru Roku, offering vast content, all working (-; For a newbie to cutting the cable that's a great result when I had anticipated hours of difficulty and system conflicts, like most new digital equipment seems to present when trying to integrate an existing system.
The simple sleek design is also an award winner in my book. It fits under my flat screen and does not depend on line of site to use the remote since it works on RF principles. The remote only has a few buttons but is very powerful when linked with the embedded on screen software/menus.
The streaming using the Roku 3 was the easiest part of cutting the cable, I thought it would be the hard part...the hard part was getting an antenna to work and provide HD content in a remote area..it took 3 models and a month of exchanges and waiting for new ones before I got what I wanted, which is HD for the networks and PBS in better on screen quality than I got thru the TW cable box. I am saving $65.00 a month in cable fees even after deducting $7.99 a month for Hulu Plus and Netflick. (-; The content available is unbelievable. The Roku was the easiest part of this lifestyle change and i am recommending it to my neighbors and you.

This is one of the best small investments I have ever made! I love the convenience of being able to streamline so many things to my tv and all I had to get was this little box. Love it!

Very poor quality sound.
Had to purchase a set and it made a huge difference.
This feature was important to me and I would suggest that you source a higher quality product .Should not have spent the additional ten dollars for "earbuds included".

As a senior citizen find myself daunted by technological "gadgets" but the Roku is quick and easy to set up. With a little bit of time spent learning all that it can bring to my TV I highly recommend it for anyone who is sick over what "ordinary" tv channels by any of the businesses (Dish,Direct or local cable) offer for viewing.

I love the Roku 3. One of the best purchases I ever made. I am an old person who is not technically savvy, but this was so easy to install. I just wish I could get ABC, NBC, and CBS streaming without paying for these channels.

Alternative Entertainment or Is It?

(6) years ago I purchased my first Roku. Very impressed! 1/2014 I upgraded to the Roku 3 and attached it to my home theater. This is moving home entertainment to a new level. Whether you subscribe to cable or satelite, it is becoming clear that in the future the need for cable or satelite may be obsolete. The massive amount of content in every genre, when you want it, not when it is made available creates a convenience factor that has to be embraced by anyone with a busy schedule. Add to it the ease of initial set-up, it is very tech friendly to the novice. My home theater is my hobby and I have a multitude of media available at my fingertips, out of all of the hard wired and Wi Fi devices I own, the Roku 3 is by far my favorite. (Operating Roku3 through 7:1Denon surround, 100" SI Black Diamond screen, Epson Pro Projector) You will not find a better value for $99.00.

My son and his girlfriend bought the roku for me for my birthday. I love it. I can watch all the old TV programs and TV series that I missed. It has been one of the best gifts I ever received.

This is a great product - its super easy to setup and a simple user interface. Love the headphone option on the remote so that you can watch TV without disturbing the rest of the household. Works so well I'm considering getting another. The cost of this small device made it an easy decision to cut my cable bill.
Request - please add more streaming sports options (MLB, NCAA, etc.)
