Smart Viewing, and Easy Interface

I bought my Roku because the DVD players with "apps" did not really have any good apps. My Roku lets me use Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO Go as well as an ESPN app and many others . HOWEVER you must have accounts with netflix, amazon, HBO, as well as a major cable company to access the apps like ESPN and Fox. Each App is free but the service is not.(people sometimes make it sound like you get free TV with Roku) There is also no app for the major networks like CBS, NBC, or Fox sports (though there is a Fox app it only lets you watch Fox tv shows not sports) In essence it is an amazing product that turns your TV into a very smart streaming interface with awesome HD picture and a super fast streaming rate. It also connects via Wifi to your smart phone for even easier access. Genius.

Does what I need

I got this mainly so I could access the content on my Synology DiskStation and stream Netflix. It does a good job, although the DSVideo Station Channel could use alot of improvement. The Roku itself is a great unit I am still learning all that it can do.

Too any junk channels

Product is good. But too many junk channels. Some channels never have content update for more than 6 months. The channel like that should be removed from Roku list to keep your quality.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Ok, first of all, let me say one negative- it is not always easy to tell if videos on some of the channels are free or not. Other than that, I love it. I watch shows on my Roku more than any other device.

Great for those who have no cable

This is my second Roku. The 1st one is a Roku 2 in my craft room and this new one is a Roku 3 in the living room. Love them both. But the Roku 3 is a little easier to use and downloads faster than the 2. We have no cable TV I am tired of paying the high prices of C....... so for $8.00 a month for netflix and being a member of amazon prime we have a great selection at a very low price. My netflix used to go thru my dvd player (2 different dvd players actually)and had nothing but trouble with loading movie's and tv shows sometimes it would be loading every minute and a half. With the roku 2 and 3 we never have that trouble. My husband is a happy man now thanks to his new Roku 3.

I wish I'd bought this earlier!

We had been using a Sony Blu-Ray player for streaming videos from Netflix and it would unexpectedly stop to "buffer", sometimes doing this every 2-3 minutes or so, and we'd have to give up and watch something else. It seemed to occur during "peak times" so we were blaming Comcast, our cable company. Then my next door neighbor told us iit was an issue with the Sony blu-ray player, something with their software or firmware, and he recommended we try a Roku. So I purchased a Roku-3. Wow - this is what streaming video is SUPPOSED to be like! Always lightning fast, never hangs up. And the Roku itself is so easy to set up and use! And it supports so many different things, including Pandora, Amazon Prime, etc. I only wish we'd bought this 2 years ago!

Great Streamer

Great unit for streaming video. Only complaint is that you cannot adjust your network settings for each connection (i.e.: you can't change your DNS settings on the unit... it has to be done on your router). Overall very interactive... great channels.
