Great item except for repetitive ads.

I am happy with the Roku system, it works flawlessly. My biggest complaint is the ads they insert in the movies, before and during. Now I understand they must advertise to pay the bill and keep it free, but who wants to hear the exact same McDonalds ad three times in a row. Can't they at least put three different ads instead of three identical ads back to back????

Unit works great for every thing but usb port does not work for playing or for recording at all. Try several things with will not work.

Worth It!

We purchased the Roku 3 after much debate and thought. We wanted to cut back on our satellite bill, but still have access to programming and family movies. So, instead of paying over $100.00 per month for a list of programs we never watched, we pay about $15 a month (Netflix and Hulu+) and have access to almost everything we could ask for. The ability to cast videos and photos to the Roku, use our phones as remotes and search YouTube directly from our devices has made finding programming very simple. Everyone is happy with the purchase, including our checking account.

Simple efficiency

I am not the most tech-savvy member of our household, nor am I an avid movie-goer. But, occasionally I do want to have access to excellent movies. I have been able to navigate our Roku easily to quickly download and watch movies that I wanted to see. The whole process was intuitive and simple. I look forward to digging in a little deeper with this machine. But, for now, it's done everything I've asked it to, with no glitches.

I finally knuckled under to the streaming trend. In conjunction with signing up for Amazon Prime I bought the Roku 3. What a terrific little package of technology that's hard to beat for the price point! It has worked flawlessly and I am enjoying it. Well done, Roku, well done.

Battery life

We have the Roku3 and Roku2,the reason for 3 stars, the batteries on the Roku3 have to be replaced real frequently, like every 2 wks. I finally called customer service, she told me to turn remote upside down when not in use, will put remote in sleep state and see if that helps. I am doing this and will update this review if this helps. Otherwise, we love the Rokus, it has been such fun introducing our grandsons (ages 8 & 10) to some wonderful old shows that their Dad and even shows we watched as teen-agers. Some examples r the A-team, Goucho Marx, they love these shows. We have give up Dish and do not miss it. The set-up was extremely easy, good directions,have remote application on my ipad mini and can use it as a remote for both Rokus and also have Netflix app on ipad and can watch it at night in bed and use headphones and does not bother anyone. We also have a Sony blu-ray player on our Sony tv, but the Rokus are faster in loading, unless u want the blu-ray player, would recommend the Roku,better choice. Will give update on battery situation.
