Best Device, Easiest Set UP!

This was a birthday present from a friend. The best device ever. The Set Up was easy to follow, simple and very positive in terms of the step by step coaching and comments in the booklet. Clearest Instruction book I've ever seen.

The Future

I was looking for an alternative to cable or satellite television and was happy with a friend's suggestion to look into Roku. Although there is not the sports I like, and cable networks available, I was pleasantly surprised to find so many of my favorite programs.

Need more HD channels

I got this thinking this Roku3 will get me HD channels compared to Roku2. But thats not the case. In todays world of HD TV's, not getting 1080p channels doesn't much serves the purpose.

Fantastic idea... but.

I like the features, how it looks, how easy it was to connect and add channels... My problem is, that using only HDMI for audio-out has issues. All of the video devices in my AV system go through my TV, then to my amp. Apparently the Roku doesn't *always* do audio in a format which my TV can pass-thru to my amp. Sometimes it does stereo, sometimes it does DD (direct digital), which will pass the dolby (or other) surround sound encoding to the amp. Some apps the audio format is settable, others it is not. So, I'm left with a device that, for me, less than half works. For example, I can use channels like Pandora and FlexMedia Center, but can't play Amazon videos and some NetFlix videos won't have audio, others will.
I can connect the audio jack from the remote to the stereo, but that *really* seems like a kludge and the quality is worse than I would hope.

great features, easy to setup

I bought this a month ago, and I am satisfied with my purchase.
However, even though there is a lot of free old content to watch, there is not enough free up-to-date new content to watch. Free Hulu, and Comcast provider HBO GO, would work for me.

Love, my ROKU!

I Just bought my 5th Roku. I gave 2 away as gifts and have 3 for my home. I recommend everyone to get at least one. We also have cable TV with all the features and channels. In spite of all the channels on cable we watch our Roku more often as it offers more choices. Great product! Only problem comes in when the internet goes down but same thing happens with the cable.

Roku was a gift from my son, who also installed it. I'm older and not good with technical things. Roku is amazingly simple to operate and has opened up all kinds of great programs for me. Sometimes it has trouble retrieving HBO GO.

The Roku3 is easy to hook up! Very intuitive learning curve! Set up was simple adding channels was a breeze! Video performance is top notch, streaming is flawless! Haven't used all the features yet but I would say get the Roku3 rather than buying a new TV !
