Switched from Chromecast and never looked back

Bought a Roku 3 for my home theater to replace a Chromecast that was constantly causing Netflix to stutter and fall back to standard def. With the Roku, all my Netfix loading woes went away and content is always in HD. That itself would be enough, but the Roku gave me access to so much more content, like Amazon Prime, MGo, Vudu and Redbox. The wi-fi remote is great since my media cabinet is to the side of my seating area instead of in front. Interface feels intuitive and responsive. Really haven't found a single thing to complain about yet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Purchased for use in the bedroom. Have our digital library stored on a pc in our livingroom. Roku allows us to access this library easily and reliably !

This is my first Roku... I was using my BlueRay Player which had lots of the channels I use on my Roku... The Roku works faster and smoother.. I like the action and searches much better... I am enjoying it so far...

Wonderful features

Bought a Roku 3 at christmas and loved it so much I bought two more. One for my son who is in college and one for the extra TV in the kitchen.

A Versatile Box

I am not a 'power user' of entertainment stuff like this, though I am pretty technology savvy in building computers and such. I do have a nice Plasma (yep, still the best quality picture of all the flat screen TV's out there) TV but it is not an intelligent TV with internet connectivity. I do have a Blu-Ray player but it is not Wi-Fi enabled or wired for the internet either.
I had set up an overpower desktop (in a nice case of course) as a media server so I could watch Amazon Prime Instant Video and my Hulu + services to catch my shows I had missed (No DVR on my Satellite TV). But, it was more of a pain to use as I did not leave it on all the time and when I did use it, I had to deal with MS updates so it was a waste of a good machine for that use.
My son had brought up his Roku 3 over Christmas and hooked it up and I was surprised at the ease of use while he had it at my house. He had his Netflix, Amazon and some other channels I was not familiar with on the device. It worked well over my DSL connection and looked good on my screen. So, my wife picked one up for me as a Christmas gift (Sweet isn't she???).
To date, I have my Hulu+ and Amazon Prime accounts so I can catch up on Justified and the wife loves Glee and I get my Marvel shield fix when I miss it on Tuesday nights (no dvr on my Satellite TV service). I also have a couple of other 'free' channels on it. My wife uses it more than I do and she LOVES it.

Cons
Can't power off - while low power usage is a great feature, I personally like to fully shut equipment off when not using it. Just a foible I have I guess.
So, if you have a similar set up to mine, I'd definitely recommend the Roku 3. If you have more intelligent equipment, You might want the Roku 3 for some of the other services you can't get on your Smart TV/Blu-ray players so do your homework.
I like mine and am very happy that the wife got it for me.

Excellent product with one major gripe

Really enjoying the Roku experience so far. It's extremely simple, always on, very speedy, and very small. The ethernet port on the 3 is a great feature. I've found more channels and content than I could ever have time to view, a lot (if not most) is free. I bought it primarily to use for HBOGO since it is a heavily advertised Roku app and my Playstation 3 does not support it. Unfortunately, I am unable to connect to HBOGO with my Comcast account due to some conflict between the two companies, with no resolution in sight. If you have Comcast please note before purchasing that HBOGO will not work! Despite this, I have grown very fond of my Roku and it is now my primary media streamer and would have no issue recommending it to anyone looking for a streaming media player.
