Nice product but tends to overheat and lock up.

We purchased the Roku and have overall been happy with it. The only problem we have experienced is that it is prone to overheat and then will lock up. The unit sits by itself, not on any other components, just a wood shelf. Nothing else around it becomes warm, just the Roku 3. If it wasn't for that, I'd give it a higher rating.

I am very happy with the Roku 3 and was surprised that it now includes YouTube again. It has all of the religious networks that I really like and used to need a satellite dish for at three time the cost of the Roku. The Netflix app is really nice compared to other systems I've used. And the large catalog keep growing and apps are improved all the time. However I do have a pretty serious complaint. I don't want my kids to access Netflix unless I am home. The only way I can control this is to remove the Netflix channel. It is a huge inconvience to have to go back to the channel store and reenter all my login and password info. It would be so much nicer if you could simply add an option to be able to assign a pin code to what ever channel you wish. Then it would be so much easier to be a caring parent.

I LOVE MY "Roku 3"!!! No more cable. Got ride of my dish provider! One less expensive bill per month. My "Roku 3" paid for it's self in the first 2 weeks. Between the internet and my "Roku 3", my needs are complete. Easy to hook-up - easy to use, and just kick back and enjoy!

Quick and easy to set up with excellent picture but disappointed in offerings for several reason.

I bought a Roku 3 about 6 weeks ago at a large membership warehouse store. Installation and configuration were quick and easy. While I don't think it is a substitute for broadcast and cable TV, it is probably a substitute for a DVR in many cases. I did not have any of the reported problems with the Roku player slowing down my network, perhaps because I also upgraded my wireless router at the same time to a highly rated Asus router. Both are highly recommended.

Netflix video quality is poor, looks like 480p. Remote function clumsy compared to Apple TV. It does get Amazon prime which is why I bought it.

I bought my Roku 3 a month or so ago to replace my Neo Netgear streaming player. I heard it was the best of the best and like the idea of having the earbuds to watch and not disturb my husband. Was easy to set up but a couple of things. Sometimes we are not sure how to turn it off. The light stays on for a long time even after we turn off the tv and put the remote away? Also, the sound in the earbuds is not that great this is why I only give it 3 stars. Also, when I launch Netflix, it looks different than my other streaming player and it is not as easy to find my favorites and to find the search function you have to scroll through a bunch of items. I still can't figure out where the different categories are like, sci fi, independent, drama - not sure what I am doing wrong but I actually liked the set up better in my old and cheaper Neo netgear version. So although I can listen through earbuds and there are alot more aps/channels to choose from (mostly subscription anyway, not sure I am that impressed.
