Easy to use. Lots of features.

I bought the Roku to turn my TV into a media center while unplugging the cable. It has done a great job in that area. It has a wide range of in device apps that provide media content for just about every preference.
I also like the smartphone app that doubles as a remote; especially considering the bundled remote that came with the device flat out won't work. It takes way to long for the remote to pair, which I need to do often as it will only work for a minute or two with the Roku after each pairing. I have, frankly, given up on the remote. Without the smartphone app, it would be a sleek, lightweight paperweight. While the Roku has a lot of features, I wish a working remote was one of them.

If you have high speed internet and like to watch tv, then this is a no brainer. Go buy one of these roku right now and enjoy the best that streaming has to offer. Netflix, Hula, Amazon prime, and hundreds of free channels that will surely take care of anyone taste. Have you bought a DVD or Blu Ray that has a digital copy (like ultra violet)? You can play it with your roku. Do you have a computer that you have ripped your DVD collection too? Then use something like the plex app on your roku to stream the move right to your tv. New channels are coming on board all the time. Simple interface that allows anyone to quickly get to whatever they would like to watch. Oh by the way I really like my roku 3..............

My son gave us the Roku for our anniversary. I love being able to watch the different sites on it. I am older so I don't know technology very well but the instructions for installing and using were easy enough for even me to do.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I own a smart TV, but still bought a ROKU. I love this thing! Netflix isn't as sharp as Chromecast, but the choices in content providers make up for that and then some. Love it!

Cable take a hick

Purchased a 2nd Roku box about a year ago, one for the living room and another for the bedroom. I like the fact Roku offers a collection of channels where the family can design an entertainment package that fits our interest, many are free. The total cost of the family entertainment, which I would compare to any package the cable company has to offer, and at least half the price. My experience w/ cable is the customer is given a choice of several entertainment packages, at a ridiculous price, then nickel and dime the customer for any additional feature.

Excellent "cut the cord" device!

Overall, I'm very impressed with the Roku 3. My family bought it to try for a week while we still had satellite. We went cold turkey for a week on the satellite and lived only on Roku (mostly Netflix). Wow what a difference. No commercials, 1080p streaming, wifi, it works with my Logitech Harmony remote, smooth interface. We coupled the Roku with a leaf antenna, so we still get local OTA HD channels for live sports and news when we want (there's a TV Guide app that has a channel lineup so we always know what is on!). We've since cut the cord completely! The interface for all the apps is pretty straight forward, but the only critique I have is that when you open many of the apps, the first option to stream a video is defaulted to the center of the screen, which is usually the 3rd video in the list of videos available for selection. In order to choose the #1 video, you have to click left twice. This makes no sense to me. Other than that, my family loves it! On a similar note, we bought a Roku 1 for our bedroom TV - works great except the Netflix app is different - the layout is completely different (in a bad way) from the Roku 3. For instance, you can't switch between different profiles! I hope this gets updated soon!
