works great except for a few things

One the whole, The Roku 3 works well. It is much better than my Panasonic bluray, which I bought for this purpose. But, there is a thing or two that was not done right.
While I like the idea that I can listen on the headphones from the remote, there is a problem. When you plug in the headphones, it cuts off the TV sound. If it left the TV sound on, you could use the headphones for hard of hearing people while everyone else in the room could listen to the TV sound at a different volume. This is a huge mistake for Roku.
The other thing is that there is no clear return path, from watching a show, to return to see what else there is. The way Panasonic handles this is much better. They have an option on the same page as the info of the series you are watching.
If these things were changed, the Roku3 would be perfect.

My 80 year old older brother received one as a gift last year and liked it so much he recommended it to me. I bought a Roku 3 a month or so ago and liked it so well I bought two more; one for my second TV and another one for when we travel in our motor home. I have over 130 channels installed. Most of the controls on the remote are intuitive in their operation. My wife goes to bed earlier and sleeps later than I do so the wireless ear bud feature is very useful. I used to stream to my TV through a computer I had hooked up to it. However, this is much simpler and convenient to use and much less expensive for anyone not already having the computer set up through the TV. My only problem has been that I still haven't been able to get it to recognize my micro San disk.

» Roku’s TV based “Search” requires you to select from a single alpha-numeric row. A grid would be much faster.
» My wife considers it much easier to watch her YouTube shows on her Kindle than using the laptop sync. The Roku remote is very cumbersome for this function.
» Some “free” channels have very limited “free” content or require a subscription to a content provider.
» We were fans of 3 shows on different cable channels that are streamed. One show is streamed, one is not, and the third only has a few clips available each week.

I have had my Roku 3 for a little more than a month. I am enjoying it to the max. I have an Amazon Prime Account and have over 40,000 titles at my command for free!

CUT THE CORD!

We've cut the cord to cable and don't miss it at all. There is enough entertainment on this device that you would not be able to view it all in a life time. The remote makes it easy to navigate and the picture quality is great. Sorry cable companies but I believe this is the beginning to your end. Let's hope Roku can get some more broadcasting companies to offer their entertainment direct to the consumer.
