So easy to use

I bought an Arcos( not spelled right but a different brand) first and returned it for the Roku...Arcos was more expense but I hated it...I also bought one for my son and his family...They love it also...Buy it, you won't be sorry...

It just works & works great

We purchased two Roku 3’s, we have had them about 4 months now. I have to say we love them, they just work. I have a Media Center server setup with all of our movies. I have tried many devices to stream our local library to other rooms in the house. I have built computers and tried all kinds of media center software to do this. Yes I found solutions that worked, but none were great or easy to use. The Roku 3 with the Plex channel simply works, once set up. No buffering, the ease of using a remote, it makes watching our movie library from different rooms in the house a pleasure. Add to that all the channels that Roku offers, it becomes a great media streaming solution. The Roku 3 is very responsive, the software is easy to navigate. We still have cable, we have not cut the cord so to speak. We purchased the Roku mainly to stream content from our Media Center server, but we find ourselves watching more & more content on the Roku. Netflix, Amazon and so much more.
Pros:
The Roku 3 comes with a remote that has a headphone jack, this for us is a great feature. I can watch TV late at night without the audio keeping my wife awake. The operating system works very smooth & fast. It has a search feature that will help you locate the program / movie you are looking for, this is pretty sweet as it searches across all channels, Netflix, Amazon etc. The remote doubles as a game controller, I don’t play a lot of games on the Roku, but my grandson loves it. The Roku 3 has a SD Card slot & a USB port for expansion.
Cons:
For the price it’s hard for me to complain about the Roku 3, I would call these request more than a con of the hardware. I wish the remote was backlit, I would gladly pay a little more for this feature. If you add an SD card it improves the performance of the Roku, I guess by adding more memory / storage. But if you power the Roku down you have to reformat the SD card. We move our Roku from the bedroom to the family room & have to reformat the SD card every time you unplug it. Not a big deal but it gets aggravating if you are in a hurry.
I recommend the Roku 3 highly, at $99.00 with all it offers, I think it’s a pretty sweet device. We have two Roku 3’s, we have plans to purchase two more.

Great Product

My Roku 3 was purchased in order to play flash drives containing hundreds of songs. Several other devices couldn't recognize drives with that capacity. The numerous video channels with many, many, selections came as a very pleasant surprise. The device has performed very well and serves its intended purpose better than expected.
The only downside was connecting it. The experience provided a lesson well learned and that is to use Roku's online chat feature for assistance. Speaking to live representatives wasn't productive and added to the frustration of not being able to connect the device after many attempts. Once connected, it's great and I would recommend it without hesitation. With its many options available, one may find it easy to say goodbye to cable and/or satellite TV.

Surprising results.

I am writing this after only a brief exposure to the product. I installed Roku 3 yesterday and already see its potential using broadband 3mbps wifi. I expected video buffering and haven't seen any yet. Video is good at 720p and I get full advantage of surround sound using an AV receiver. Selecting what to watch and when is a big advantage over broadcast TV (my cable was cut over 2 years ago). I have yet to look at the subscription options, let alone all the free accesses. Compact size and ease of operation are also appreciated.
