A great family entertainment option

My husband and I got rid of cable and network TV ten years ago, preferring to better manage our family's viewing opportunities through other options. Roku is the best device we've found. It lets us choose which channels we want to include, so we can be confident the content is something we want to allow in our home. (Plus, as a Downton Abbey fan, I love being able to watch new episodes the day after they air on PBS!)

Woku is a great step up from the Sony home theater

We finally got so frustrated with the streaming device we were using that we decided to get another. We had almost come to expect long load times and lagging several times in anything we watched. We bought the Roku 3 after reviewing most of the popular products with hopes to see some improvement but still expecting some issues as we thought some of the problems might be with the service provider. We have been greatly surprised! We have not had any lagging issues since we bought the Roku 3 and load times are fast. The only issue I have now is that I cannot get the surround sound to the home theater system but that has nothing to do with the Roku product. The little black box may be small but it is quite magical!

I bought this about this because my Sister in law likes hers so much, I had a Roku 2 that I had quit using because it was so slow, this one is fast and I love the new menu options and all the movies on Netflix are great thru it

Great little streaming device

It does exactly what I wanted. I can easily view everything from YouTube videos to hit movies with the channels available. Of course channels that have the latest content are mostly subscription services but you can pick and choose from a very large assortment of channels. The free ones are many and do offer interesting content.
What I like most about the Roku is that it streams extremely smoothly and I get very few streaming problems (most of the time no problems at all). The occasional re-buffering happens but I have a very slow DSL line (I think it is the slowest in the country but that is a different story).
If you are looking for a very small device (it hides on my television shelves and is almost not seen), then this will work for you.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to set up and use but very limited content

The Roku 3 was a breeze to install, no issues at all. Dispay is full HD, crisp and clear. Unfortunately, the Roku navigation menu is not very good and the media content is very limited. I purchased this to access NetFlix and have been very disappointed by the poor NetFlix content. Other movie channels are not any better offering very old titles and/or content with commercials. Would not recommend based on the poor media content.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unit performs as advertised and up to expectations

In the middle of January we lost our great streaming TV provider, Sky Angel. The were not able to stay in business due to falling revenues. We decided to try Roku and there are any number of family friendly streams for us there. plus we can take it with us on vacation!
