May be good for streaming but really bad for USB

I can't believe I had to google it and ADD a special channel to play my own USB movies. And when it finally did, it crashes at least 4 or 5 times per movie. I haven't really tried the streaming yet, but when I see a movie for rent at $20 for 24h, that's FAR from a bargain.
Setting it up with Amazon Prime didn't work, despite 2 attempts. I also have the feeling that everything on this box is to make you spend money.
Overall quite disappointed. I'll buy a WD streaming box to supplement it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love it, but needs more codec support

I love the Roku especially it's connectivity to Plex, however I feel like Roku could do a little more to support a larger variety of Codecs so that I don't always have to convert my digital media to a specific mp4 format. Overall it is much better than Apple TV and the headphone remote feature is actually very useful at night when you don't want to wake people up.

Nice Little Box

My Samsung Blu-Ray was my main Netflix connection, and it was slow, buggy, and just not satisfying. Now I use the Roku and it is just SO much faster loading and running Netflix and other content. It is also more reliable -- doesn't constantly drop wireless connection. I also love being able to play the music from my phone. So far I'm very pleased.

I bought this after trying an AppleTV, Chromecast, android standalone, Samsung apps (on a smart tv) and Panasonic apps (on blu-ray player). They all had problems. Most were too slow or too limited. AppleTV is just seriously annoying (a remote needs more than two buttons!!) Roku works quickly, smoothly, and the netflix and hulu clients do everything I want. Network connection also works better than any of the other devices (except AppleTV, which was also very good on the network). BEST FEATURE: Headphones from the remote. It mutes the TV (most of the time - didn't work once for some reason) and lets you listen while your spouse sleeps nearby.
