I received it as a Christmas gift, I Like it. A good way to find & watch old movies, made for TV (Series: IE: Season 1 ,2,3, etc.) A lot of different choices, if you can't find something to watch that you enjoy, then you aren't looking!

I bought this unit almost 2 months ago to shed some of the shackles of cable television. It works very well, was very easy to set up and has been quite stable. and there is a lot of content out there. I didn't give it a 100% rating only because some of the content providers one would assume would be available--aren't. This isn't the fault of Roku, but does demonstrate a limitation.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for viewing Netflix

We got Roku specifically for streaming Netflix and we hooked it up with our U-verse wireless network. The installation was very clear, easy, and fast. No glitches, thank heavens. I didn't realize that I would be setting up a Roku account and putting in a credit card for that. Since I only plan to stream free services, I would have preferred to skip that for now and add a credit card later if needed.

Roku 3 lots of fun!

When I first received my Roku 3, IT WAS TAKING A FEW MINUTES TO DOWNLOAD a movie and then for no reason would restart the movie or reupload it to the spot where it stopped! Very frustrating, I called Roku and they said I should check with my Internet Service Provider and reset my Roku to channel 11 on my router. Well, I did go into my router and try to change the channel, but I got sidetracked and notice that my Router's driver was out of date. After updating this driver. I checked the Roku and all problems solved. Now I get very fast downloading and streaming of the movies and no restarting!!! So just updating that driver solved everything. I did not have to contact Comcast.net or anybody else. Problems solved. so I suggest if you are having any problems with your Roku, checked your other hardware, first! The router and the modem. Most likely they will be the cause of your problems. The only complaint I have is with the roku romote. If one uses the earphones that connect to the remote, a lot. You will notice a very fast power drain on the batteries. It will eat those batteries like candy! That is why I give it a 4 star instead of 5 stars. Roku shold fixed this problem.

We liked everything but...

Out of all the boxes we've used, we really like the way the Roku worked. However, we ended up trading it in on a Blue Ray because YouTube is a big deal to us. Even though we were able to come up with a way to access YouTube by patching something in, (which took us a long time to find) it did not give us easy search access which is what we wanted. We were actually surprised it didn't have YouTube. If the Roku had of had a decent YouTube channel we would have kept it. I don't know if this is true, but someone told us later that the competition won't share. I'd definitely recommend the Roku to a friend if they are not interested in having YouTube access.
