So far I have enjoyed using this product. Easy to hook-up and easy to use. I did not know the Roku was around and bought my son an Apple TV box for Christmas, but he and I like the Roku better. You get more for your money. Customer service and technical support is great to.

I had heard about the Roku for a couple of years and just briefly read a little bit about it a year or so ago, but that was it. Lately, however, our cable has gotten more and more expensive and service is not that great, so I decided to use a gift certificate I received for Christmas and try the Roku. It was one of the best decisions we've made in a while! We use the Roku every single day. If is fantastic. So much free programming as well as low cost subscription to 3rd parties such as Netflix. We like the Roku so well, we bought one for the bedroom. Highly recommend this product!

Bought it a few months back and have used it a few times. It buffered one time but other than that, it works perfectly. I was amazed how small the thing is.

one small problem

The ROKU with headset port - while extremely convenient - one of the very best features - HAS A HUGE HOLE IN ITS DESIGN !
Because there is ONLY battery support a user will run into significant battery costs IF the user uses a high-end headset (which draws power from the battery) .
Solution: Provide an adapter that will power the ROKU remote via electric outlet -- or provide an optional remote that supports this . I have no problem with being charged for the adaptor . Make this an option -- you might be surprised that it is a small extra profit center .

I researched the Roku for sometime before buying it. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to reduce or eliminate their cable bills. There are many great channels that are free and provide great content. Its not all "B" movies or youtubish videos, you can find live streaming local channels and plenty of current prime time shows with out a fee.

Great way to cut the cord

After some months of searching, we bought our Roku in September. As our cable bill began to rise as surely and predictable as the temperature in an old car on a hot day, we decided to take the plunge and cut the cord. Mind you, we'd been Comcast customers for over 12 years. The service was great, but I felt that an average of $120/month over 12 years (which totaled $17,280 of real after-tax cash!) spent to watch maybe 10 out of 200 channels was too much. So I bundled the Comcast remotes, HDTV receivers, cables, etc and returned them. I bought an omnidirectional RCA TV antenna and we now receive more than a dozen broadcast channels in Hi Def. We signed up for a 12 MPS online service from Century link ($34), whose modem also provided wireless video streaming that the Roku picked up very nicely. We bought it on sale for $90, signed up for Netflix of $8/month and now have more movies and TV shows than we could watch in one lifetime. The Roku3 is easy and fun to use. My only regret is that I waited so long to buy and install it.. I have to say that there are some workarounds. Baseball isn't available directly, but we will buy the MLB ticket for that. The great thing is, we're now in control of what we want to watch and pay for - not the cable company. You can do this too.
