Very Good Product; Problems with Universal Control

Lots of program choice with good dedicated controller.
General limitations to be aware of:
A. If you stop in the middle of most videos there is no way to return to the place that you stopped (unlike cable "on demand")
B. Very difficult to program a universal controller since there is no optical output--only an RF output. I purchased a separate optical controller to learn from but some of the commands (such as the * button) did not program.
C. Entering TEXT via the controller (e.g. to YouTube) and elsewhere is primitive and frustrating--there needs to be a better way.

I have only had this for a few weeks and it is awesome. Super easy to use, massive selection and very economical. I highly endorse this product.

Trouble with WiFi

Wanted to use my new Roku with Wifi, but could not get it working with Wifi. I called tech support and we spent a lot of time on the problem, but no fix. The tech concluded that my unit was faulty, so I returned it for a replacement. But, I had the same problem with the replacement, so the first unit was probably not faulty after all. I ended up fishing some ethernet calbe through the attic and walls to create a wired connection, and the unit works fine that way, but it was a hassle to have to do that.. Can't figure out why the wifi didn't work, because I use lots of other wireless devices in the same location as the Roku sits, and no problems. I even tried to change the settings on my router, software but that didn't work either. So, other than that, I do like the Roku, but I don't use if for much other than Netflix and SkyNews.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Roku is very easy to use and has very simple channels that anyone would want. However, you have to have an account for most of these channels. If you don't have accounts for certain channels, their isn't much of a choice to have this. I also have an HBO account but my service provider isn't on the list so I can't have that channel, which is pretty unfortunate because that cuts out a lot of shows/movies I like/want. I have Hulu and Netflix which is great, but if I didn't the Roku wouldn't really be worth having. Other than that, it's great and absolutely easy to use!
