I cut the dish cord and bought myself a Roku 3, I wish I would have done this years ago! Buy one today! You will not be disappointed.

Simplicity

The quality of streaming was the first thing I checked by reviewing my uploaded YouTube videos. We had been very disappointed by the quality on our Google TV boxes. Roku blows the doors off of Google TV. The next thing was checking out the interface for Amazon Prime Video. Nothing can possibly compare to it. Finding what you want on Amazon Prime, even on a PC, is frustrating. Don't get me started with how incredibly poor it is on Google TV. The Roku interface for Amazon Prime Video isn't quite there against the Netflix interface but it is still the best around.

A truly amazing appliancet!!!

Until I bought my Roku, I was using a Windows PC for Netflix, YouTube and other streamed content. I never realised how much better it could get! The Roku is way faster than the PC, intuitive and easy to use and offers even more than my PC based multimedia system. The innovative remote control with its headphone jack is a miniature marvel - and they even give you the headset! The ability to connect an external hard drive or USB storage is just the icing on the cake.
Once I get to grips with the huge selection of content available on Roku, I'm very tempted to dump my satellite TV service (which costs me $80 a month and seems to just constantly repeat all the same programming it was showing a year ago)

Easy to setup and use

The Roku is a great way to navigate online content but given many content providers block overseas usage, for some of their shows, the Roku should make it easier to tell which shows can be viewed in US only and which are not restricted by IP. Roku should also go back to the providers and tell them restricting content by IP address is only encouraging piracy when no legal means of viewing is made available like through Roku.

Setting WiFi Expectations

This is not the first Roku I've purchased and set up (I purchased one for a family member and one for a friend). So it went as expected. The only issues was that the Roku creates a WiFi channel. This channel is only for the remote (which connects over WiFi) and cannot be used by anyone to connect to the internet or any other machines on your local network. It is harmless, but it is detectable by devices that look for WiFi channels and can be disconcerting.
Roku should do a better job of setting expectations of this because it can and will be disconcerting to users that don't understand what this new, unexpected channel is for.

What's not to like

I've had my Roku 3 for just over a month now and am still exploring the channels. I have not seen some of these cartoons since I was a kid last Millennium. Some golden oldies like One Step Beyond and Netflix, Crackle. They are all good. I am contemplating getting a 2nd one for the upstairs TV.
I have gone so far as to set up a server with all my Music, Pictures and Videos all within a remote touch.

Roku is a great little device that delivers on both content and user interface quality. It's also small, quiet, and fairly low-power. The only problem: I want another one for my other TV!
