Worth the upgrade from ROKU 2

Rare that a new product does what it is advertised to do and ROKU 3delivers. The earphone jack in the handset brings the sound and tracks directly to you making many sounds clearer. One negative seems to be more reboots on movies from NETFLIX and others when watching so I am not sure if that is due to less sensitivity to my WIFI than I had with ROKU 2.

It was a nice Christmas gift from my husband. Unfortunately he is very ill now and the Roku has not seen much use. But my cousin has a Roku too and is extremely happy with it -- she is the one who recommended it to us.

Except for HBO GO

Easy to setup. I started on WiFi, but then went hardwired and the picture quality is pretty darn good on my 60" plasma.
Only annoyance - and it's not Roku's fault, but it's something prospective buyers should know - Comcast does not support HBO GO on the Roku and shows no signs of changing their minds any time soon, if at all. Comcast currently does support HBO GO on certain other devices, so if that's a dealbreaker for you, BEWARE.

So far I am frustrated because I haven't been able to figure out how to search for a particular movie or TV show in Netflix using the Roku remote

To search on Netflix, just press the up arrow on your Roku remote, and a menu will appear with a magnifying glass icon that directs you to Search. That will let you search for movies and TV shows available on Netflix.

I am saving a ton of money on my cable bill. There are great channels and lots of fun features. The only thing I wish was that there were more channels and tv shows included. All in all, worth the money. forget about your monthly cable bill!

bought this recently after recomendation by a neighbor. Set up nicely and provided the services promised. Sometimes shuts down on its own (not the planned time out) requiring power to be disconnected and the reconnected. Works much better with our wireless than either the "smart" TV or "smart" DVD. Much better interface, too. My wife loves being able to listen to her Pandora music.

Very Good

I have had my Roku 3 for a month now. It is quite good on most counts. Lots of content, some of it is a bit silly/useless but there is certainly something for everyone. Streaming services work flawlessly. I picked the 3 mainly for the wired ethernet connection. I live in an apartment building with 33 networks competing for airspace, so I didn't want my shows subject to WiFi availability.
I wish it had a few more connection options. I would love an audio out (it has HDMI only) as I sometimes like to listen to Pandora or other services while watching sports etc. I found the motion sensor in the remote inaccurate and somewhat worthless, but this was not a feature I cared about to begin with. I would also love a PC desktop app with a "play to Roku" feature. There are several that do this visa the Roku interface, but they all rely on metadata and media server software relies on tagging etc. I have quite a few custom files in my collection (bootlegs of live performances, original music and video content) and this is not very convenient.
All in all a good product that does what it is supposed to do quite well.
