Love the Roku 3

I received the Roku as a Christmas gift. It is wonderful. Now instead of being at the mercy of my cable provider I can go to Roku and view movies or even a whole season of TV programs. It is so easy to install and also easy to use. I just love it. In fact I just purchased another one for the TV in my bedroom.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It's worth it!

My family loves it! We watch it more than normal TV. The only improvement I would recommend is the addition of a keyboard on the remote (for those of us without the means to pair a smartphone or tablet to certain apps). Other than that, it's a very nice piece of equipment, and it's far better than Chromecast.

Roku 3: An Excellent Product With One Problem

Regarding the Roku 3, I will start with the good and then proceed to a very annoying problem. First, I own two Roku 3 units. The feature-set for this high-end unit was perfect for me. I use the USB connection often and I use the headphone/speaker connection on the remote occasionally. I bought and returned a couple of different competitor units because of a remote problem or no USB capability. I am contemplating buying a third Roku 3 for the kitchen. The internet channel selection is extensive. However, I don't have a frame of reference for comparing to the competition.
Now, for the problem. Both of my units "reboot" often when using the USB feature and less often when watching internet channels, but too often. The "rebooting" frequency when watching material on USB can be every 15 to 20 minutes on a bad day. It is not consistent. More on some days than others. I believe this may be software related or some type of inquiry is being initiated from your home offices. I'm not saying that the signals from your offices are sinister in nature. You may be checking for user channel lists or other important marketing data. Something causes the units to "reboot" too often. I hope you can come up with a fix soon. Thanks.

I bought the Roku because I was interested to see if it had significant online functionality beyond what my blueray player and TV already have built in. Other than a few minors bell and whistles, it was about the same. Most of the worthwhile stuff on Roku requires additional subscription fees. I already have Netflix and cable and am not interested in signing up for 10 other subscriptions. Who has time to watch it all or money to pay for it all. I returned it because it did not add much value to my system.

Great Alternative to TV

We bought this to replace TV and although we can't watch live TV, we can watch a lot of our shows on the channels that are provided. Also, if you pair the Roku with Netflix and Hulu Plus - you really aren't missing out on anything. By waiting 1 day to watch my shows, i save about $150 a month.
