Great streaming box with tons of content!

When my wife and I decided to get rid of cable a year or so ago, we initially got an Apple TV for streaming video content. The Apple TV definitely works well, but we eventually realized that Roku offers a ton much more content, has the ability to stream at higher resolutions (1080p vs a max of 720p with the Apple TV), and allows you to quickly search through multiple channels simultaneously. Despite feeling a little redundant at the time, we decided to get a Roku 3 several months ago, and we've rarely used the Apple TV since then. Unless you're really into the Airplay or iTunes features offered by the Apple TV, the Roku offers a lot more functionality and (at least on our network) seems to have better streaming algorithms so we notice fewer pauses or other issues while watching TV and movies. We're very happy with it, and would definitely recommend it to others!

I received my Roku 3 for Christmas, and I love it! Setup was extremely simple, only requiring an available wireless network or nearby LAN port & cable, and a free HDMI port on your TV. The Roku looks to have more content than the AppleTV, although the two share many of the same providers. If you want to have access to the largest selection of online video content possible, this is the device for you. The only annoyance I've found is that a few online video providers (A&E and History for example) refuse to provide content to Roku users on my TV/internet provider while providing content to XBox Live users. It'd be really nice if Roku could work with these providers to develop a way to offer their channels to individuals who don't subscribe to their partner TV or internet providers. It'd also be nice if Roku could add GooglePlay to the list of their providers along with more European language content providers.

Quick and easy did everything in said it would do. Should tell you to remember the code it gives you and also should let you know when you buy it you need a cable to connect it.

The Roku was easy to set up and it works great. The one thing I didn't realize until I received it is that in order to get "free" movies that aren't 40 years old, you have to subscribe to a service like Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. The movies stream smoothly and the picture quality is terrific. Overall, I am very satisfied.

Don't know yet whether it supplements or replaces general access TV. So much content! Both current and the things I missed and now regret. So convenent after hearing of rave reviews, to be able to go back to the beginning and catch up!

Makes Watching TV and Movies Easy!

I'm pretty happy with my Roku thus far! I got it for Christmas and I've been using it daily ever since! I usually only use Netflix and haven't really had the chance to experience the Roku's other features, but I'm sure I'll sit down and try one day. It was so easy to set up it took 15 minutes! as long as you have decent internet connection you're all set.
as far as complaints; I have issues with the remote control. The batteries run out EXTREMELY fast because the remote is constantly looking for a connection to the Roku. I had to invest in a battery charging pack because my batteries would be dead every 2 or 3 days. It would be convenient if the Roku could go into "sleep mode" after a certain amount of inactivity and would probably save battery life and energy!
