This is the best thing I've bought in a long time!  So easy to set up and use -- out of the box and watching streaming movies in less than 15 minutes.  Small so it isn't a lot of clutter.  Very happy with it!

Missing too many features :(

- We need a way to open Home screen, but keep current video playing in a small screen, like cable boxes.
- We need to have a volume control. It is too bad to have Roku remote control and then the need to use the tv remote control just to control the volume. The current volume control only controls the earphones, why not also control the volume of the tv ?
- Needs a DVR functionality.
- Needs App that provide local channel content.
- Needs PIP function, like TVs/Cable have.
- Needs a better integration with Xbox one.
- Needs more content, so we can eliminate the need of cable tv.
- Please add more Soccer content
- Please add more golf content
- Please add more sports content.

Watching our favorite Cable and TV episodes without bothersome and annoying advertisements is well worth having this device. Movie selections still need to be improved upon as top rated flicks are few and far between. Overall, the Roku 3 is a wothwhile addition to our home entertainment choices!

Easy setup and simple to use

I already have  chromecast which I mainly use for watching Netflix wirelessly on my other TV's.  I thought the additional content provided by Roku3 might make it a worthwhile purchase especially with a price of $90.  I do like the remote and the fast response but any free content is still marginal at best.  I find myself just watching Netflix only with a nice, fast remote.

Some apps have little to offer

I thought that purchasing a ROKU would help us get rid of our DISH, however, this is. It the case at present.
I really hate having to log in to individual websites and activate each app. Why can't one chose the apps of interest and have 1 login, similar to an autofill-type process?  Also, some of the apps are so very useless. I am interested in having apps with live programming ( which is now available, but not in my area) so I can ditch the DISH.  That's why I bought the ROKU. Honestly, I find that I am using the apps on my smart TV and Netflix seems to offer the best programming of anything I have yet discovered.  The rest of the apps have a few tidbits and the rest is outdated junk.

Plex is great, why the poor plug and play support?

Have now owned this for a few months, as a standalone media streamer it is perfect! Fast menu's and user interface is great. Size of channel selection is a nice touch but probably not for everyone aside from the usual (Netflix, Vevo, Youtube, Plex).
Plex is well worth the $5 fee to steam movies/shows over your network (requires a PC with a small bit of gumption to setup Plex media server).
My only problem is the lack of support via the USB port on the Roku itself. It struggles to play the exact same media that it streams from Plex. Either sound or video or both... It really is a major disappointment when so many other devices play FLAWLESSLY via plug and play *ahem WDTV/Boxee/etcetc. I have yet to plug a audio/video format into my WDTV or Boxee that either will not play without issue.
I would recomend this mediaplayer to people who want to watch netflix but if you want a media player with real file support look elsewhere.

Opinion on Roku

Before I purchased this I checked with several sites & computer experts. CNET convinced me to purchase. This is a good alternative to cable, but getting the paid programs to work is a challenge. I purchased the Amazon Prime, but can not get my TV to run the movies, only on my Kindle HD Fire. The instructions are poor in my opinion. There should be a tutorial - I know with the HDX that is available, but not with the HD. Since this is an alternative to the Apple, I better instructions would make this product more desirable.
