Fast, affordable alternative to costly satellite

I don't watch sports, but I love watching shows/movies. Roku gives me what I need. Note that you have to pay subscriptions to all the services ($7 a month on avg) and even w/ that, it doesn't cover all movies. A larger percentage of movies cost $2.99 each.

ROKU WOULD GET 5 STAR REVIEW BUT THE FACT YOU HAVE TO USE A PHONE OR TABLET TO VIEW SLINGBOX IS BAD. IT SHOULD HAVE THE APP. RESOLUTION IS TERRIBLE.

This was my Christmas present and it makes streaming fun and easy! I love it! The only thing that's difficult is if you don't have a TV provider, you cannot get anything live, especially in sports. I love it all the same though!

Returned it and got my money back

I put the Roku 3 on my Christmas list and got one. Setting it up was very easy, and luckily we have a 20 meg high speed internet package with a router to cast the wireless signal all through the house. I returned the Roku because it simply wouldn't work. It would show that my signal strength was excellent, it would pull up Netflix (or Amazon Prime) just fine and recognize my profile and watch list... and then I would try to play something (anything) and it would simply freeze or time out. Even trying to watch current news from the Roku menu would time out. All of my equipment is just fine (new plasma tv, strong 20 meg wireless signal and router, etc.) but the Roku 3 was a source of frustration and disappointment. I went online and exhausted all of your troubleshooting tips, reviewed all of your questions and answers, tweaked my router settings, tried different Roku box locations, etc. But in the end, it just seemed like the end result was that I probably should have gone the Apple tv route instead. I have to admit, I thought the Roku 3 sounded awesome which is why is was on the top of my Christmas list. But the product itself was very disappointing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Install and set up were easy ,have been enjoying it for about two weeks Roku loads fast and streams smoothly , Only glitch far has been a purple screen on "Crackle" I am not sure at this point just where the trouble lies.

great gift and product

My wife bought this for me for christmas after my boys cracked our Smart TV screen. I put on our TV in our room and it is fantastic. All the apps, channels and movies I used/watched on my smart TV is on the Roku. I will definitely be buying another in the future. Probably going to cancel my cable because of the Roku.
