easy to use

A Window to the Future

A neighbor has a Roku, and I took a shot and gave it a try. I am thrilled that I did. Now I can watch what I want to watch, when I want to watch it on my living room television screen. For about a year, I'd been growing steadily more dissatisfied with my satellite provider. I was paying nearly $200.00 a month for the privilege of watching maybe 15 channels, tops. So much of what is offered on satellite and cable is empty, mindless fare. Now I can subscribe to Internet channels that offer me opportunities to see the kind of fare I enjoy at a mighty fraction of the cost I was previously shelling out. Soon I intend to add a second Roku to my bedroom!

Great movies, TV and more.

We are very happy with the Roku 3. I tried using Google Chromecast, but the video did not display correctly. I am an Amazon Prime user, and I love all the movies, TV (caught up on Sherlock, Season 1 & 2!) and other options should I want them.

Love it! Thought I would have use a game system to stream movues, etc., but found this was a less expensive, and better, way for me. Did I say I love it !!????very easy to set up, only took a few minutes and I was watching a movie.

All that I expected, only a few issues

I was familiar with the Roku and finally bought one. I set up an account and was online and watching stuff in minutes.
The Roku Media Player was one of my first channel choices. I had a Plex server that broke down and was desiring to use the ability of Roku to to play from an attached USB drive and avoid another Plex PC. The USB drive connected fine, I was able to browse it and make my choices just fine, the issue is that Roku is incredibly picky about the format of MP4 it wants, most of my movies either just failed to play or produced a screech and screen flash then rebooted the Roku. Re-ripping all my movies again is NOT an option. So I bought another PC and set up a Plex server again. Plex through Roku is very nice, I just wanted to avoid having yet ANOTHER dedicated device and really wanted the simplicity of the Roku attached USB drive to work. Maybe future upgrades will make this possible.
Beyond that I really enjoy the Roku. Sharp picture, wonderful sound and a great addition to our TV enjoyment.

I found out about the Roku by accident. I wanted to put a TV in our bedroom and did not want to run a cable from the basement to the second floor. So I searched WIFI cable and it came up in a search. I figured for the price what did I have to lose. It came in and I set it up in under a half hour. Played with it on the main TV for a couple of days. Once I set it up in the bedroom, I ordered another one for the main TV. Very happy with it and have recommended it may times.

We've had our Roku 3 for over a month and love it! Previously we were using a blu-ray player to access their limited selection. Frequently movies would stall or Netflex would select a lower quality so a movie could be shown without waiting for uploads. All that is gone now with our new Roku.
