Cutting the Cord Made Easy!

Roku has made cutting the cord so easy. We love the instant selection it gives us on our big screen. Set up was super easy. Not all channels are available to Canadians unless you pay for the redirecting service.

I bought my Roku 3 just after Christmas on the recommendation of a friend. I also have Apple TV and Chromecast. Roku 3 outclasses the competition by light years. Apple TV is a weak second. The available entertainment options and the fantastic remote control are what set Roku apart from the others. Then there is the promise of more. If Roku can continue to grow apps, particularly games that take advantage of that fantastic remote control, the others will most likely fade away.

I like my new Roku!

I received Roku 3 as a Christmas present. I immediately cancelled my satellite TV service realizing how much mindlessness it tempts me to watch. I like having to actively search out shows and movies - some that I haven't seen in years. Or I can re-watch shows from the beginning that I lost track of which episode / season I was on and then abandoned altogether with regular television. I also like that I am saving a lot of money with this "a la carte" style of entertainment - I estimate that I am paying 1/3 of my previous TV bill - yay!
One thing that could be improved is the storing of personal data on the device that could be shared with the channels that one registers with so that i don't have to enter in the information everytime i am prompted to do so. I'm not talking SSN or credit card numbers - just the simple stuff like name and email. It is very tedious to repeatedly type in the 22 characters in my email address using the remote.

The roku works great and we are happy with it, but it doesn't have a filter to prevent inappropriate media from being shown. It was a gift, for the reason above I don't think we'd buy it ourselves.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Roku is my first adventure into Internet TV watching. It was recommended in several reviews and I find it easy to use and programs start right up without delay. I can search for the same program on many channels and find a free or low cost version. I only use a few of the available channels but even so I think it is worth the investment. When they make the Roku 4 I hope the come up with a quicker way to get back to shows I was watching. This has to be done through each channel.

Godsend for watching old tv programs

I originally got this for movies but find myself using it more for catching up on tv programs I missed. Only reason I don't give it a perfect score is that it is tough to continue when the programs rebuffer. I don't know whether this is a problem with our WiFi/DSL system or the Roku or the programs themselves but otherwise I use it a lot.
