got as a christmas present. only problem is that no earphones work. tried four different kinds. i get either scratching or entire sound goes away.

The system would freeze and reboot no less than 5 times a day. Probably would be more than that but you get frustrated enough that you stop using it. The so called channel selection, which swayed me to the Roku in the first place, is just a collection of junk no one wants to watch anyway. All I found myself watching was Netflix, Pandora and Youtube. I returned the unit and plan to buy a Chromecast for 1/2 the price.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Received this as a gift from my kids for Christmas..never even heard of it before..the best gift ever!!! Love how I can get caught up on shows I have always wanted to watch but was never able too....series, movies, news, it has everything I need...who needs cable!! There is not a day that goes by that I am not watching my Roku!!!

I'm a bit disappointed about this product.
The plus side, easy to use, lots of content, but I find if you use the headphones the batteries die quickly, two weeks. There is also no way to turn it off unless you unplug the power cord. I'd like to be able to turn it off otherwise my router seems like it's working extremely hard.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am very disappointed. While everything works, it always seems to be out of focus. I have a Vizio TV with two HDMI connections and I used a high quality HDMI cable but the focus problem is always there.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I got the Roku 3 for my parents for Christmas and before that they only had basic cable.  Now my dad knows what Pandora is and can watch shows and use the headphones while others are talking in the room.  The headphones on the remote is a great feature.  My parents can barely navigate their phones and my dad has never even used a smart phone (he just upgraded to a flip phone), let along apps and he picked this up very easily.  It is a cheap way to get a smart tv :)  I have the original Roku but the extra money was worth it for the Roku 3. I should have bought another for myself.  
My dad said that he would not have spent the $100 on the Roku before but now since he knows how much he uses it and what it is all about, he would spend the money.
At first the remote wouldn't work but then I read the manual and synced it with the Roku. Otherwise it is really easy to use and setup.  However, I did not like that I had to connect my paypal/credit card to the account.  Luckily there is a pass-code requirement to buy anything in the store.  It would be easier if there was not a requirement to have a [free] Roku account to use the device but everything now-a-days requires some sort of account for maintenance.  I run the account and maintenance on my parents device and have not had to do anything to it for them since I set it up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love my Roku 3. I will save money as now I can cancel my expensive satellite TV service. Roku has so many free channels as well as many inexpensive channels. I can get several channels and still pay much less than what Satellite cost. I also have it on my laptops and tablets. It is terrific.
