Not bad, but there is a lot of junk content

The paid for channels are decent - like netflix, hulu plus, vudu etc. The free channels are mostly junk or just annoying to watch - unless you like watching in lots of mini clips. The in-built news service provided by Roku shows a 30 second target advert what seems like every clip, making it unwatchable. The plex integration is nice as well if you have a Plex server set up to get additional content to your TV.
I bought it for laziness and ease of use - to essentially avoid having to plug a computer into my TV. Other than netflix, vudu and hulu there really isn't much meat here.
I would recommend this to a friend!

If you're thinking about getting rid of cable and replacing it with what's available on Roku, forget about it!

Effortless Installation, Phenomenal Content

We received our ROKU as a Christmas present and what a gift it is. Installation was a breeze and it delivered content as soon as we turned it on. We have tried it on 2 TVs and it works perfectly on both. I think we need to buy another one as soon as possible. Who needs cable or satellite TV any more?

I'd seen it listed on The Wirecutter as being the best media streaming device to date, so I decided to give it a shot as they've been pretty spot-on with other products. My Roku 3 has a much nicer user interface and cleaner and easier FFwd and Rewind functionality than the Apple TV---and I am a hardcore Apple user! I love the ease of the remote and am LOVING the headphones!! I can listen to shows/movies as loud as I like with perfect clarity and not have to disturb others in the house. I've had no major issues with battery life since buying the Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries. I only wish that some of the app channels, like Syfy, would have full-length episodes and not 2-minute clips. Same goes for the PBS channel...current season-just aired episodes of Downton Abbey and Sherlock would be lovely as would a dedicated Showtime channel. Understandably a cable subscription would be needed as in HBO GO, but I'd just like to be able to use my headphones, since I don't have a dedicated (2.1 or 5.1) surround sound setup as of yet. I still have much love for my Roku. xx

bought this 3 months ago and am I glad I did. No more $100+ satellite or cable bills. no more useless programming we get to choose what we want to watch!

I have 2 Roku 3 players and one of the first models that had all the bells and whistles...HD to 1080 and an HDMI connection....always an "Excellant" connection Streaming and now they have YOU TUBE Channel?...Awsome! Never have buffering/pixilateing/and a Crystal clear picture!..To add to it now 3D! I have a LG 240 HZ #D TV and now Roku has available 3D Channels....LOVE MINE!!! RoKU is rated the fastest streaming device on the market...and you can believe it!

It has been a long time since I had gotten so excited about a new tech product. I bought a Roku after seeing one at a friends house. At the time I had no idea something so cool existed. It's fast, easy to use and to program. I love music so streaming music through the numerous choices of music apps has been really great. Movie apps and other programming is in abundance. it is especially a great product for people that don't want to spend money on premium TV programming because it's a one time purchase. I was using my xbox 360 to stream netflix and hbogo but I had to pay Microsoft per year to do it and I am not into xbox live gaming. With a Roku that is all gone. I was so jazzed about it I bought another for the basement. Great product and support. Thank you. I also recommended it to several friends..
