I received a Roku 3 for Christmas and it is doing what I hoped (streaming Netflix); love the ear phones; heightens the experience; be aware though that you must unplug them from the remote when not in use as they chew up batteries if left plugged up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Totally never need or want Cable or Dish!

Even the cable guy said to get a Roku when we ditched our cable. So great to be able to pick and chose what we like to watch and or listen to. Love having you tube, angry birds and other options. Glad to be free of plastic surgery commercials, used car sales adds from Seattle area dealers etc etc. So many options. Cable should be a part of everyone's past.

Perfect Christmas Gift

Wow, we are so glad to have received this Roku as a Christmas Gift.
We have cancelled our movie selection from our TV provider.
Every night we watch excellent TV movies. There are so many things we can watch, like TV series, so far we only have been watching movies.
And if the movies are in different language you can select your language of choice.

No parental controls

I returned the Roku because there was no parental controls. There should be a way to customize controls to allow or disable the search feature on the Roku. Even if kids cannot access it, there is no way to hide the inappropriate choices. It also needs the ability to block certain subscriptions. For example, when I am not home to monitor their choices I could block Amazon Prime but allow PBS.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
