Performance far better than I expected

The unit is neat and small. I was pleasantly surprised with the picture quality on the TV screen. There is a wide range of content available. I have recommended the Roku3 to family members living overseas.

I know longer subscribe to any cable, satellite, or paid TV service. I'm done paying for TV. I purchased two directional antennas which work fantastic, uncompressed signal, many HD stations. The Roku 3 is a welcome addition to expanded menus and choices. My understanding is that the Roku 3 will be a standard feature on future TVs. Even with my ancient DSL service, streaming works fine. I chose this product over the Apple version.

Not What I Expected

The Roku was difficult to understand. Many of the programs required a fee and or you had to have cable. I was testing this product first among my friends and this device failed. This was not what I expected I thought it would be an alternative to cable but it wasn't. I returned it to the store as I was very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great channels; a steep learning curve

We bought this to reduce our cable/satellite bill. There are lots of channels for a variety of interests - movies, TV series, special interests. Especially like access to British shows, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Showtime series. The biggest challenge was set-up and figuring out the features, navigation, and content selections for different channels. As a newbie to this kind of TV viewing, it wasn't as intuitive as I was expecting, even with the on-line info about channels. I think there are lots of features and shows I don't know about. That said, we're enjoying all the new things we're watching.

Almost Perfect

I was skeptical about the roku, I already had a Wii that could do pretty much the same things. But after using it for a couple of weeks I might just be getting a second one to put on the other TV. This thing is purpose built for streaming content, which should be the future of entertainment. It is a great device, the low power sleep mode (so it doesn't have to boot up) is excellent. The remote is great, maybe a keyboard or some way to type more easily would be my only change. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars for me is HBO GO. I have an HBO subscription with Xfinity, for some reason the Roku can't link to an Xfinity HBO GO account. I don't know which company is to blame there (probably HBO) but that wasn't really communicated prior to my purchase. Other than that, it is great and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys streaming media.
